So i've been watching the video of "a morning star" on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js93qxDlIzg) and am wondering about the tuning.. i love the way it sounds... if someone can post the tuning i would really appreciate it.
A Morning Star is played on Michael's Zon Legacy Elite 10-string bass. The tuning is Aa Aa Ed Da Ge.

Are you sure that middle set isn't Eb? A major 2nd there would sound funky I would think.

The tuning Burg submitted is correct. Each pair is actually tuned to a different interval (U, 8, M2, p4, m3). The tunings for all the pieces on Soliloquy as well as lots of other information can be found in the Enhanced CD data on the Soliloquy disk. Just pop it in a computer to read the files.

But then what are the string gauges he uses? Sorry, I don't have the Soliloquy CD :hmm:

Well, I know "Excuse Me, Mr. Manring" is traditional EADG tuning, with the E string occasionally lowered to B via a hipshot xtender.
It was from the PDF in the enhanced section of the Soliloquy cd that I got the tuning. I could post the rest of the tunings for the album but only if Michael's OK with it. Don't want to breach copyrights or anything.
The video Professor X has seen is also included on the Soliloquy CD, and is definitely a 10-string, although it only looks like a 5.
As for string gauge, all i've been able to find out is that it has five bass strings and five guitar strings.
