Let me know what you guys think. We had a Great turn out last Year. This time I'm pushing it back a few weeks. Last year is was a tough turn around for those that went to NAMM. Plus I have the Columbus Ohio show and Orlando, FL show on the weekend both sides of NAMM.

I'm looking at Feb 10th (Sat). This is the second weekend in Feb.

If everything goes as plan I will be in the New shop as well. For those that came last year, its the free standing CNC Computer shop next door to the old shop you attended last year.

Thanks,
Brian

Hey guys, Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, happy Holidays and Happy New Year.

This is a busy month for me. I have through the next 4 weeks in a row, Build basses for NAMM, Ohio Guitar show, NAMM Show and Orlando FL Guitar show. Then the 10th of Feb the GTG.

Also, today (Fri) I will close on the New Building, which is located right next door for those that came last year. I will be moving all month when not out of town... which means not a lot of time. I hope to have everything in place in time for the GTG though.

I would like to start a list of people coming like we did last year. Please copy the list and add your name to the bottom of the list.

Please, don't feel like you have to bring something to come. I think so often people feel like they need to bring something in order to come and I can promise we always have plenty of Amps, Cabs and basses, But of course your always welcome to!!!! :bassist:

Thanks and any questions please feel free to e-mail me at lowend@comcast.net

As it gets closer let's get a plan on food & stuff. I'm more than willing to bring Centerpoint BBQ from Hendersonville (mmm) but there might be some spots in the 'Boro that are killer too. I'm in for $$. 1st Memphis person that bitches about the 'q is goin' in the Cumberland River! Just 'cause the Mem q is so killer ain't gonna help ya in our hood! If anyone is worried about rooms there are some real cheap motels about a mile from the shop. Pretty nice & less than $50 a night. Don't let cost or gear be an excuse, get yer azz over here. Gonna be a blast! :bassist:

WOW WOW WOW, I'm burnt in so many ways...... Sorry for the lack of info coming from me this month. 16 days and I've been home for 4 of them. I'm now moving into the new shop. Its right next door for those that came last year. 2295 NW Broad St. (CNC Computer building)

The Real reason for my post and I'm sure what everyone cares about, is Food! What do you guys want to do? Bbque from Corky's again, order Pizza, I'm open, but lets make plans.

OH, and JT's wife Barb is bringing the magic Chili.... well I am hoping..... fingers cross, but no problem if you can't.

Obviously it would help if some brought coke's and others brought chips. With so many coming, just a bottle coke or bag of chips per person would be an overload, so no one needs to double up. Next to your name you can place what you are bring.... don't worry about the gear :hiding:

How did I miss this?? I just found this today. I did the math and I should be off work next Saturday and plan to come, but I'll need to check with the "Boss" first. I will bring my usual concubines as well as the Magnum preamp if I'm finished modding it by then, but if it ain't right it'll stay home. I have changed the input stage to a transformer coupled push-pull circuit and am waiting for an input attenuator transformer and switch to get here. I just can't leave well enough alone.

Well, looks like you'll have to count me out for this one. I forgot that my dad was to have a carotid artery cleaned out yesterday, so I have to go up there on Saturday and see him. He came through surgery just fine and is at home doing well. I will miss seeing everyone but hopefully will be able to make the next one. Such is life.

Lneal, Sorry to hear man, I hope the recovery goes perfect!

Ok, so the Barb is ordered for 20 people, which means we will have enough for probably 50 ;)

I know we have a few that can't come, but I think we will have plenty of basses and people!

See everyone Sat... again we can start around 1 and go till when ever. I pickup the Barb at 12 so come hungry.

Plus, my gig this evening is in Columbus, that would be a heck of a lot of driving for a very short amount of time to hang wit y'all.

Feel bad about all the chow & not getting to meet you guys but all my gear is @ our practice space in Nashville & by the time I loaded it up and got to the 'Boro... :( My apologies to all.

Just getting back in from the GTG!! Had a great time.. Sorry I couldn't stay longer but, had I done so I would have dropped some obscene amounts of cash that I really can't afford right now. Brian, as always thanks for hosting these things!! As you all know if you've been on Brian's site recently, he has some above average stuff available ( ;) ). There were a few however that REALLY spoke to me and, had Brain served alcohol at today's soiree, one or more of which most likely would have come home with me!! :help:

So, from the South East, GTG today, here are my "Belles of the Ball"....

http://www.nehp.net/~coe1/Basses/Bass%20Bash%2007/metro5.jpg

Sadowsky Metro Standard 5
Light weight, sounded great! Killer B string..

http://www.nehp.net/~coe1/Basses/Bass%20Bash%2007/NYCSAD.JPG

NYC Sad Std. 5 string
Incredibly light weight! I would be surprised if this thing clocks in at 8 pounds! A great player!! Loved the top on this one!!

http://www.nehp.net/~coe1/Basses/Bass%20Bash%2007/divinity.JPG

Divinity Oracle 5
These basses are so over-the-top!! Loved the feel of the neck! Not sure what size fret wire was used on this bass, but I loved them!! Fast, fast player!! Anyone have a spare $4999 they can let me have??

And the two that impressed me most above all others today:

http://www.nehp.net/~coe1/Basses/Bass%20Bash%2007/Ben_std.JPG
Benavente Standard 5 string
THIS. BASS. ROCKED!!

PERIOD!!!

I couldn't believe the quality of construction, tone and playability this bass had for the price it cost!! If the person who owns this bass is a member here, PM me with the specs please. I want one JUST LIKE IT!!

More about these incredible basses HERE (http://www.benaventeguitars.com/StandardSCD.html).

http://www.nehp.net/~coe1/Basses/Bass%20Bash%2007/LEJ7_1.JPG

Low End Jazz 7 string
This bass was so fun to play and sounded soooooo nice!! Plus it has one of thinnest necks I've ever played!! I don't know how they do it, but they do it VERY well!!! I WANTED this bass!!! BAD!! Had I played it much longer I probably would have walked out with it.. A LEJ 7 and one of the Bene Standard 5s are definitely on my GAS list now!!!

Thanks again, Brian!! :)

Thanks a ton for putting this on Brian! Love the shop, and my weekend in Nashville was well worth the trip.

For the record, I saw Hillbilly Casino at one of the dives on Broadway, and they rocked! So, doing what any music lover would do, give a shout out. FWIW, they not had one great upright slapper join them, they had three GREAT upright slappers rotating....

Soullive rocked Brian, but they got a singer, and he needs some crowd mgmt lessons. You can't come into a giant like Soulive and then bring cheesy crowd chants with ya.. Otherwise, rock.

And then the basses, an extreme relief/inducer for GAS really. It was great to try things out and meet so many cool folks. Everyone was real nice and all, and a great time was had.

See you at the next one.

The Wootens still play there every Wednesday. It's been a little while, but I think they still just charge $5.

Adam Nitti has played there a couple times in the last year. I took some lessons from him. I need to go back!

Catch ya next time. We're playing there again on May 2nd. We're on a 6-six week roatation now.

Crazy, I remember 10 or 11 years ago Regi would always mention that, "Still only $5 cover!"

The tunes sound great - what are you using on "What Is..." - very present, up front, and lots of definition. Sounds great!

Adam Nitti is a freak of nature (on the bass, that is). I'd love to meet him and take a few lessons. Is he still Atlanta-based, or is he in Nashville now?

petersenbass

On "What Is" I'm using my Jazz bass with Barts, into an Aphex Punch Factory, then the DI out of my Little Mark II. That stuff was supposed to be multi-tracked, but when we got there, they only had live to stereo. It took a lot of mastering to get it to that point.
We recorded the video/audio at 527 Main Street.

Adam lives right outside of Nashville. PM me if you want his contact info. He has played a couple gigs at 12 South Taproom near Corner Music. On Tuesday nights 12 South Taproom has some pretty cool shows, for free! I recently saw Futureman's trio and Victor Krauss's quartet.
