The G&L MFD pickups don't do thin. :D They have more fat low end than you will know what to do with.

If you can lay hands on a L-2000 it is the same layout and pickups.

I really want that low b though, but i figured it cant be to hard to ignore the B when im not using it:) But good then. Is it good att slapping generally?
A funny thing i found is that since im shipping it from germany, its way cheaper since of taxes are high here. So if i dont like the bass, icould resell it here for probably close to the price i bought it for new:D Suddenly im not feeling as shady about choosing bass. Are GLs usually easy to sell?

I don't own one, but I've played a few and always like the slap tone. I find them to have very thick bassy slap and a thin trebbly pop. I like the tone, but find that it doesn't cut through a mix very well. I pre fer a jazz bass for slap because it has more in the mids and cuts through a little better, IHMO. The G&L has a good preamp though, you might be able to make it cut better with some tweaking. I was never able to master that pre. It always confused me. Too many knobs and switched.

Yep. One of the overlooked things on the G&L's is what can happen if you roll the tone knobs down.

I select both pickups, series, passive, and roll the bass all the way down, treble all the way up or just a bit rolled off, and I have the Geddy Lee Power Windows Wal bass sound. :hyper:

The switches and knobs make a L2K/L2.5k ungodly versatile. I have yet to run across a genre I can't get a usable sound from it.

Regardless of what bass you get explore all the sonic option the onboard controls will give you.

You really want cut through get a L-1500 or 1505. I have a Climax which is pretty much the same with the pickup location and it will eat small children.

there are no tributes for 1500, dont think ican afford nontributes.

I've always found that running both pickups in parallel, active, T & B @ 10 will get me that Jazz slap sound. I'll have to try spidey's settings next time I feel the need to slap & pop. Not that I'm any good at slapping. :(

Mine on the rear pup only (don't remember if it was series or parallel). This is about as "thin" as the G&L will get. It definately can get a lot fatter.

It cuts like a knife on nearly any setting, even with flats. I like to use mine in passive/series mode with the neck pickup soloed, to get an old-school '70s slap sound.

I'm used to slapping on my full-string-width FBB, though; slapping and popping on the narrower L2500 is a good bit trickier.

Thanks. I finally ordered my bass today (tribute l2500) and im glad i finally made the decision after a very long time of not being able to decide. If i really wanna get a fretless i can sell it used here for the same price i bought it, or very close, which im glad for.
But is it harder to slap than the 4stringer? The string spacing seems equal. And ive heard its a mather of getting used too:O
