:help: When I play with my fingers I always seem to get this muffled hammery sound from the string my fingers rest on (the 4th string when I'm playing the 3rd string). Is this noise normal, or is the nut groove too wide or somthing?

Please and thanks for any responses.

You either need to post a sound file or give us a better description. I'm totally not getting what you're talking about.

sounds like your plucking finger is hitting the next lower string. With that string muted, if you accidently strike it, it will make just that sort of sound.

Oh, that. I wouldn't worry about it. Everybody does it.

You can check how your neck is setup. If you are tuned really low, the neck will have a lot less tension and the strings might be a lot more rattly.
