2009, JULY 25 UPDATE:
A paragraph was added regarding cross-sides ads. (BG and DB sides cross-posting)

2008, AUGUST 7 UPDATE:
A paragraph was added regarding TalkBass' liability and non-involvement in disputes in the DB classifieds.

2008, JULY 18 UPDATE:
In an effort to unify the rules between the BG and DB sides of the Classifieds, it has been decided to remove the bumping limitation on the DB side.
That means you can now freely bump your ads, BUT NO MORE THAN ONCE EVERY 24 HOURS.
It's therefore not anymore necessary to change something in the selling conditions to bump an ad.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi.
All Supporting and Non-Supporting members who post an ad to sell something must have their profiles filled.
This applies to the two For Sale Classifieds boards.
Members who don't conform may see their posts deleted.
I'm always posting a reminder before proceeding.

The link:

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/profile.php?do=editprofile

The following fields MUST be filled in in your profile:

Sex
Location
Current Setup
Gigs, Bands & Ensembles
Influences and Teachers

If you don't play with a band or something, then state "Non applicable".

Likewise for the other entries, but please state your location.

This rule has been approved by Paul, Talkbass owner and admin.

[Edit by Paul: I just want to explain the reasons for the profile requirement. The DB moderators requested this rule, based on the fact that when a non-supporting member posts, there is nothing to tie their account to an actual identity. On the BG boards, only Supporting Members may post at all, so this isn't an issue. But here, as the classifieds are still free for everyone, the least we ask when you post an ad is to fill out your profile to give others an idea of who you are :) ]

Addition: When your item sells, please lock (close) your thread: When viewing your thread, pull down the "Thread Tools" menu to "Close Thread". Or, in the thread listing, double-click on the envelope icon next to your thread.
Deleting the thread prevents users from giving you feedback, as one must give a URL to give feedback.

Also please note:

--Commercial users may not use the public "For Sale" classifieds forums to post products or services, unless prior permission is granted from the forum's moderator and board owner.

--Items that are on Consignment at a music store can't be listed on the Classifieds either.

No opened ebay listings at all allowed in the Classifieds.

Does TalkBass provide any form of buyer/seller protection in the event of a problem?

Transactions between TalkBass members are done at their own risk. TalkBass administrators and moderators do not guarantee that the transactions members choose to engage in are safe and that the descriptions provided by sellers are accurate. Members who choose to buy/sell gear through the TalkBass Classifieds understand that TalkBass, its administrators and moderators are not liable for any loss that may occur due to the use of the Classifieds Forum. But if loss does occur, make sure you leave the other user negative feedback, to help out the TB populus when dealing with this user in the future.

Ads cross-posting:
Items that can be of interest to both BG and DB players can be posted on both sides BUT please use a main/secondary thread structure.
The Main thread will feature pictures, etc. and that's where the interested parties will post.
The Secondary thread will only hold a link to the main sale thread and be immediately closed.

Thanks in advance,
