I'm getting a Spector Performer 4 for Christmas (I love my girlfriend!), and it has the "EMG-SSD (Stuart Spector Design)" pickups. Is there actually a difference between these pickups and EMG HZs? I'm guessing not, but I was just curious.

FWIW:

I would call EMG. However, any pup I've seen that included design in the name meant it was literally that, designed by them not made by them. Invariably made overseas - which now days could mean anywhere, in fact not even overseas but in Mexico.

At any rate, the only thing that matters is whether you're satisfied with the sound, not who made them or where they were made.
