Not like his recent death has anything to do with this... But what are some James Brown recordings that are most notable. Particularly with James Jamerson and Bootsy Collins.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!
I am more or less looking for whole albums and not just single cuts.

Bootsy Collins is all over these two. I don't think Jamerson ever recorded with James Brown.

James Jamerson was with Motown Records. James Brown recorded on King Records, later Polydor.

I just picked up The James Brown 50th Anniversary Collection on UTV Records. It came out in 2003. It doesn't have the B sides which were so cool, but it is a very good representation of his work and shows how funk gradually developed.

If you want to hear what he sounded like live in his later years, you can download a concert from last December here (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5070028).

I cannot recommend the box set "Star Time" highly enough. Purchasing 4 CD's at once is an investment, but the song selection is superb, as is the annotation on the accompanying booklet. The only box set I've heard that I rate as its equal is the 60's Motown box- and given our adoration of Motown (and Mr. Jamerson) on this forum, that's saying something.
