Just bought BB615 as my first 5 string (4 string played 30 plus years) and I have Never tweaked or messed around with actions ,bridge pieces etc and change strings whenever I come into money (Not often).I know that puts me at odds with all the experts on this site but where to start ?.Small amount of fret buzz on E str and the B is a tad floppy but I gather that is fairly routine . Should I bugger about with the truss rod (probably not I guess ) or just raise the bridge piece for the offending string.Getting expert store help is a non starter as BB615 bought on the net and in the part of the UK I live in guitar experts are as rare as rocking horse droppings.
I just read a post re neewbies to 5 string...really useful and accurate for damping the B and not over doing the lower octaves...tried it and it really does work...but ALL advice very greatfully received.
The 615 is a real piece of work,beautifully crafted and so far the sounds seem very impressive...Its staying in the collection no matter what just to see it on the wall and I know I should learn more about 'tweaking' it but hey I dont even know how to open the bonnet (hood) on my car...thats for experts.

Robin, do not "bugger about with the truss rod" but try to follow the steps posted in the sticky at the top of the Setup & Repair forum ( http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=125382 or go to Mr Willis' site http://www.garywillis.com/pages/bass/bassmanual/setupmanual.html ) It is not that hard to set up the bass yourself as long as there are no issues with high frets and such. Hope this helps!
