Pretty cool, I've never seen the American Idol show but own Kelly's 2 current discs... the girl has talent IMO.

Her new one is in progress and Mike Watt has done a bit of the bass work, I cannot wait to hear it!!!!

"I ended up playing on six of the songs. I had no idea what it was going to be like, but it ended up being pretty interesting," Watt said of the sessions for Clarkson's third RCA studio album.

Watt said he was a bit skeptical about working on the project, since he knew hardly anything about "American Idol" or Clarkson herself.

"I heard that Kelly won some game show, but I was really impressed how she sang her ass off. It was intense. I'm really glad I had the experience -- it was trippy and everyone gave me much respect."

Not that she isn't a great singer, but I never imagined I would buy a Kelly Clarkson CD. Now I just might get it for Mike Watt. I used to have a fIREHOSE CD of his back in the early 1990s that I thought was cool.

I bought the albums as well and am an anticipation of the third and not ashamed to say I did. There is some great song writing on those albums. She has an amazing voice and she is really cool, I met her last year at NAMM and she is so down to earth, I liked her better with a little meat on her bones though.

She's the only female on ANY of the American idol seasons that actually had a really awesome voice. The rest of them think being loud = good singing. Most of them sound more like they are yelling.

Too bad she didn't get discovered before American Idol she'd have a much better chance of having a lasting career IMO.

I really hate most of the songs they sing on the show and don't know why they force oldies on singers who are so young. If they really wanted to make it a talent competition they would make them write their own songs for most of the numbers.

But, I can't stop watching it, it's like crack. I know I shouldn't support it, I just can't stop.

I also think that shows like this send a bad message to impressionable young wannabees that all they need is that one shot and thier lives will be all better. It kind of sweeps under the rug all the hard work an actual act has to do to even get noticed.

you realize she is HUGE right? You know she's had a string of major hits from 2 consecutive releases and a 3rd is on the way? You know she's sold a lot of tickets for her tours?

...Kelly Clarkson is the only American Idol winner with any kind of career and hers is quite big. I like her stuff in a guilty pleasure sort of way. She's definitely a talented singer and not too hard on the eyes.

Kelly Clarkson can definately sing. I remember her saying in an interview that she preferred doing the more rock/pop stuff. Mike might just be the guy to bring that edge and still keep it mainstream.

It's called "My December" and was released June 2007... it's a pretty solid release, but her friction against her Bosses/Label had the Marketing machine side stepping the project... hence it's not the mega release of her 2 previous discs.
