Any of you guys going to check out the Bx3 '07 tour (Jeff Berlin, Stu Hamm, Billy Sheehan)

They've got a lot more dates than the mini tour they did in 06.
http://www.bx3live.com/dates.php

Also, http://bassplayer.tv has videos of them (and a ton more stuff) from the bassplayer live event. They even have the Berlin/Bailey debate up (which was rather entertaining)!

Lets all head out and show the powers that be that bassists can draw a crowd too!

Despite my resentment for anything Cubs related, I'll be there.

I want to go, but i'm not interested into going to a jazzy wankfest..not my style anyone know if this will be a heavier style concert? After looking at where it's taking place in boston i don't want to be seated or anything like that.

I was at last year's show, and it ain't a jazzy wankfest.

Yeah, you'll hear some jazz, but you'll hear a little of everything. All played at the highest level.

If you have a date anywhere near you, and you like great bass playing, go. You won't be disappointed.

okay, thanks.

Anyone know anything about the venue in boston?

There's a bit for everyone - Berlin plays jazzy stuff. Hamm plays his funky tappy slappy stuff (and a fusion tune), and Sheehan is the rockin' shred machine. That is one of the neat things about the show - they have so completely different styles.

And, even if you're not into a particular category, I still think 99.9% of the people enjoy all the sections.

It's a great, super-fun show.

Of course, I won't be able to attend since the NY dates are somewhere between lame and non-existent.

[another poke in the eye. :) But one with love. ]

yeah, i have to call up the venue and ask what it's like. I mean..they are selling "Dinner + Show" packages i don't want to be in a room full of old folks.

One more thing - besides seeing bass playing at the absolutely highest level, you'll also get -
some comedy.

:)

Everyone seemed to offer up jokes along the way.
Jeff Berlin had a whole Shtick going on.
Almost reminded me of Shecky Greene with a bass in his hand.

:D

Seriously, if you are a student of bass, and you are anywhere within driving distance of a date, you really have to go.

My best concert experiences have been "Dinner+Show" venues.

If you are of age, that's also Code for:
*you can enjoy a drink served to you - while listening to great music.*

It doesn't get any better than that.

What's this old-folks crap. Now stand up straight and mind your elders. :) And get to that concert.

Thanks for posting this.... I'll mention it at rehearsal tonight and see if the guys want to go with me. My 2 guitarist are frustrated bassists, and my drummer likes hanging out with musicians ;)

B.B. Kings in N.Y.C. I'll be there!

I hate to say that I don't care for Jeff Berlin or Stu Hamm, but seeing Bill Sheehan is worth the price of admission alone.

It's quite a journey from where I am, but I'd go for it ...
If it was a solid venue. But that place looks like an almost-no-seats bar.

Correct. A LARGE pub with a LARGE dance floor. The sound system and its operator, however, are top notch. Our band jsut played a benefit there. Should ahve recorded it, as it was the best live sound we've ever had.

Plus, I know Nino, et al, want to hear one of those Valenti's recorded.

Funkster, KPJ & myself just went to the show on the 28th in Boston. It was a great show, but Billy's tone sounded horrible!!! I had to step outside to save my ear drums during his set. Both Jeff & Stu were amazing!!!

If you get a chance to go, do it, great show!!!

Was the tone too loud or piercing, or was it just plain not good? :)

Well, during both sets it was just Billy's sound plain and simple. He was quite loud though. (Especially during hte 2nd show). I really do not care that much for his tone, but that is just me.

THe Denver show was amazing. I have known of Jeff Berlin but hadn't listened to much. He blew me away with his set. It was great for all 75? of us there. THe hang time afterward was fantastic as well. Run, don't walk to see this show.

threshar, we were at the first show, sat just off of stage right near Jude Gold. Jeff and Stu set a high standard. Billy's act just fell flat for me after watching the first two. He was cool and I did get to shake his hand after the show. To me the real stars were Jude Gold on guitar and especially John Mader on drums.

Billy has amazing talent, but I just couldn't take his tone. It wasn't that he was too loud, (I can deal with loudness) it's the fact the he uses too much distortion and every note ran into one. It was all one big blurr.

kpg - Boston def. got shafted with the time limit due to them doing 2 shows. (The other shows were 2.5-3 hours or so). I was there for both sets, and the 2nd set was a bit better imho. Although the downside to the 2nd set was that Stu's bass kept cutting out (its dying) which was sad. On the upside, they didn't do exactly the same set.

I'd have to say the biggest problem I had.. You know that large pillar near jude's side of the stage? Yeah, I was seated behind it. My view for that set consistated of Jude, some of John and a bit of Jeff. Stu and Billy were behind the pillar. Really lousy layout if you ask me (but that isn't bx3's fault). Scored better seats for the 2nd set where I could <gasp> see them!

Why they no come to Europe :(

They was an artical in Bass Player (writen by the guitarist in Bx3) on Bx3 and it looked really interesting!

Really hope they do a date in England...

There is always the future possibility of europe. I do pass on info I get from folks begging them to come to such and such a place.

They should have come to the Hudson Valley.
Specifically, to the Peekskill Paramount Theater.

I'm still holding a grudge. :)

I was at the Boston show (first one) and thought Billy's tone was awesome! The Kings X tune was so well done. It was amazing! Billy was the best!
