Anyone else pluck near the edge of the fingerboard for semi-EUB tones?

On my Rob Allen MB2, I get some really nice sounds, though the angle doesn't make for the best floating thumb technique. After attempts to shift the bass position, I decided to rely more on left hand muting techniques.

Hmm... well considering Todd doesn't really play fretless I imagine it hasn't been an issue for him.

I don't play fretless but I do move my right hand up by the neck and even seen other play over the fretboard to get that real big fat tone. I will something shift my bass back a bit to make it more comfortable to play up by the neck.

Hey there,

YES..... I MOST DEFINITELY PLAY UP BY THE NECK.... I QUITE OFTEN WILL PLAY ON THE NECK AS WELL....THe floating thumb works there as well....just have to "adjust" a bit, but it's all about angles....small adjustments...

It all depends on the dynamic...and timbre...I'm going for.

I hope that helps.
