I have once again let GAS get the better and bought another bass. So long story shot, I have to let a bass go. I prefer 21 fret necks, so a boutique 24 fret is pretty much a luxury for me.
I have for sale a Roscoe LG3000 with a Buckeye top in excellent + condition. The bass was sold out by The Perfect Bass in Nov. 2004. I cannot find a mark anywhere on the neck or body. The only blemish that I can find that keeps it from being mint is a mark on the neck pickup from the string vibrating against it. I guess the previous owner set the pickup too high once. It has a very nice shape to the neck which gives it excellent playability. It is a little wider at the nut than a jazz, but it is much thinner front to back. The bass is capable of very low action without buzz. I have it set up right now with med/low action, which is what I prefer. The bass is very light weight. I'd guess at eight pounds or under. I don't have a scale to weigh it. It has a very full, rich sound. I would say that a P-bass on steroids is a very apt description. The Bartolini preamp is very versatile. You can roll off the highs and add a little bass for a thick reggae/dub sounds. You can boost the highs a little bit for some sizzle. If you ever need to cut through the rest of the band, the mid boost is perfect. My favourite setting is to pull the treble back a little bit and boost the low mids a tad. It cuts through the band perfectly while still sounding very full. This bass has killer low end too. I used to run my amp with a little bass boost all the time, but not with this bass.
Stats:
Top: Buckeye Burl
Body: Spanish Cedar
Pickups: Bartolini
Preamp: Bartolini 3-Band with variable midrange
Nut: Graphite
Neck: Maple and Purple Heart
Fretboard: Brazilian rosewood
The bass will ship in a Roscoe molded hard/soft case. This the nicest case I've ever had for one of my basses. It fits the bass perfectly.
SOLD Price: $1475 plus shipping. SOLD
