In your opinion what would be the best brand of battery for a bass pre-amp?

Diehard Truck battery. Sure, you some times get a little acid on you but if it was good enough for the hippies it's good enough fer me. I attach those little tiny little wires to those big clamps and get down. It's so loud I don't really need an amp. Even when the music stores are closed I can get it serviced at any truckstop. Also a side effect, not of the acid, is that my strings glow all night and the audience thinks it's part of the show. Guess it is.

I buy duracell 9v in bulk from BJ's wholesale club. I suppose if they offered a different brand, I would probably just buy those instead. It doesn't really matter to me.

use any good quality Alkaline for non-rechargeable
for a rechargeable use a metal hydride

there's no need to go spending a gazillion on a lithium IMO

I buy the Duracells at Costco. If they sold a cheaper 9v battery, I would by it.

I used to use the Energizer E2's.. now just Duracel for cost.. doesn't ever seem to be an issue, really..

I'm still using my stock batteries, but I bought some Rayovacs for backup. Of course, every battery company will state on the container that the batteries last as long as eternity. But, Rayovac has a lightning bolt in the O meaning the batteries are driven by the power of Thor's lighting bolts. ;)

Energizer Industrials. They're free so I don't complain :D

Duracells always die quickly in my basses and pedals. I use Energizer.

Duracells are also eaten up quickly in my camera so I use Energizer there too.

It's odd since everyone else seems to find Duracell's better.

Remebering back...once upon a time...to a science project my kids did for school, Rayovac surprisingly won the test of Alkaline vs. Alkaline for longevity. Energizer and Duracel were second and third respectively. The test was for powering lights however. An Energizer Lithium was the top dog although an expensive little dog at that, when compaired to your average Alkaline.

I've always found duracell ultras to last much longer than the energisers i've tried. they're expensive though!

For the relatively low current draw of a preamp, any cheap alkaline will do. Just change them on a regular schedule (as you should with all batteries).

I have 3 basses which require a 9 volts as well as a SABDDI, a Boss TU-2 and a Dunlop Bass Wah that all use 9V (now and then).
I don't know how many times I've recharged the 4 I have but it's been alot.
I'm well past breaking even on the purchase.

Now, I always go to gigs and practice with fresh batteries. I never have to milk 1/2 a battery. And they last.
I used to use a wireless transmitter that ate a 9V in about 3 hours. I couldn't get through a long jam session without replacing the battery.
These solved that problem.
They also charge up in a couple of hours.

I have a bunch of AA batteries as well.
They go in my new wireless transmitter as well as a ton of stuff around the house.

This looks like alot of money up front (about 60 bones for a 3 pack of 9V plus the charger) and I had a hard time pulling the trigger on these because of it.
Seriously though, I am so glad I have these. They're fantastic.
I recommend them to my friends all the time.
