IMO one of the greatest bass players. He just plays the perfect parts for the song. + I love his live tone. Anybody have live pics of Hub?

Hub's badder than a broke d!ck dog!!! lefty007 01-19-2007, 07:13 AM Yep, the brotha can play. There is a nice, short article with good pics in the latest edtion of Bass Guitar magazine - that one came out a few months ago. Matt Till 01-19-2007, 11:52 PM Amazing Bass/Drum interaction in the Roots, sound 132173490752x better than that drum machine **** I'm hearing on the radio in modern hip hop. Props to keeping it real: bass/drums/keys/mc/awesome rezin 01-20-2007, 09:55 PM if you see them live they have kind of an intermission where he stays out and solos for like 4 minutes while the rest of the band goes backstage, very cool. also, black thought is the best live emcee on the planet. BuffaloBass 01-21-2007, 07:11 AM Badder than a broke d!ck dog? :) it was an opposite meaning in the Army! FoHBass 02-05-2007, 03:26 PM I've always been a big Hub fan. The only bass player I enjoyed watching take an extended solo more live was Danyel Morgan of Robert Randolph and the Family Band. j-raj 02-05-2007, 06:15 PM Hub definitely has some serious talent... always love how tight his groove is with the drummer, without choking the pocket. Very musical basslines! Spoiled Grape 02-05-2007, 06:26 PM I love Hub. Can't deny his partner in crime ?uestlove though. Dude is ill. wskorupski 02-05-2007, 06:35 PM definatley my favorite player, what an incredible sound/groove/sense of harmony.... i met him at a show in providence and he signed a poster for me as well as everyone else waiting, even though the staff was trying to kick us out asap (the club turned into a night club 30 mins after shows ended)... anyway he's a real great dude....cheers to this guy.. my favorite pic's gotta be this one of the whole group pretaanluxis 08-17-2007, 04:55 PM Hub is one of my favourite players too. He's got the most killer groove live Dr. Cheese 08-18-2007, 06:47 PM This is a favorite live clip of Hub. I dig that Peavey too!:bassist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wac3AQhhlRY MoD_Scotty 08-18-2007, 07:20 PM Seems like a good player for sure. But I read an interview he did a few years ago, and he seemed a little conceited. All he did was talk about how no one else could play in the pocket like he could. I know he's educated (he studied classical upright bass at Carnegie Mellon University), but come on. He came off as a sort of Yngwie of the bass world. Remember, we don't have live with him!:D louelou 08-18-2007, 07:51 PM Remember, we don't have live with him!:D Couldn't have said it better myself. jokerjkny 08-21-2007, 11:38 AM This is a favorite live clip of Hub. I dig that Peavey too!:bassist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wac3AQhhlRY holy mother, that clip is UNSTOPPABLE. nevermind hub's lines, but DANG, suckas are in peak form. louieeadg 08-21-2007, 11:42 AM What he does that's so special is not get in the mc's way...the music is allowed to breath and be carried by the drums/keys...the guitar and bass groove. I really liked the article a couple years ago in Bass Player...yeah, he's a little confident but he's been around long enough to have a tad of an arrogant side...he's been performing since he was 7. Jim Nazium 08-21-2007, 12:14 PM (he studied classical upright bass at Carnegie Mellon University) Aww yeah ... one a my CMU homies! the_fonz 08-21-2007, 03:30 PM This is a favorite live clip of Hub. The whole band can groove too! Dr. Cheese 08-22-2007, 08:51 AM I listened to two solo clips and they didn't wow me either. They were about 50% showmanship, but consider that he is upholding live music in an idiom that has only begun to feature it. Here is a clip that can let you hear the man himself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYUGCcUz0TE&mode=related&search= |
