Greetings!

*****SOLD TO FATSOBASS*****

Looking to trade off my recently-acquired Roscoe Beck V. It's a great bass, and plays well, but I guess I'm just an active (J) Bass guy. I love the sound of this thing when running thru my Aggie DB 924. But I'd rather have something that I don't have to use externals to get the sound I want. And it's a big bass, and a tad heavier than I like.

Bass is in pretty good shape, except for a couple of dings on the headstock. OEM Fender case is rather rough on the ends, but decent and fully functional aside from that. I've replaced the factory Schaller locks with Dunlops

I'm SERIOUSLY JONES-ING for a 55-02. I'll do a trade for one in a heartbeat. Especially if it's Cherry SB or has a rosewood fretboard. Also a Kingston Z5, Cort/Elrick, the right 55-01, Fender Jazz Deluxe 5, or similar active basses. Other trades considered, including +/- cash for the right deal.

EDIT: Trades out of the picture for the time being. But you can always ask. iIm still looking for the dsame basses listed above.

Also sell, of course. Now, $825.00 SHIPPED OBO!

Thanks!

Edit: Here's a link to NEW PIX. If anybody wants others, maybe I can shoot some more. Just lemme know!

this is an awesome bass.
everytime i played this bass i would think, "WOW, what a huge sound... a smaller body just cannot deliver a tone like this"

for those that aren't familiar with the flexibility of the electronics,
you can do:
both single coil - 60's jazz bass spacing;
neck humbucker - series or parallel
bridge humbucker - series or parallel
and any combination humbucker/single.

there's also a cool push/pull knob that sets the pickup balance at a preset (30%neck, 70%bridge) setting that gives you a thinner, burpier tone.

lots of possibilities...

Hmm, what's the weight on it?

Between 10-11 pounds. Best I can do with the "bathroom scale" method. Cheap scales.

It's heavier than most of my basses, but not as much as my ash StingRay 5. A tad heavier -- I think -- than the Fender Am Deluxe 5 that I traded for it.

Bump for a great bass!

About the weight, I think it's pretty common amongst RBV basses. I owned one for a while, and that bass, along with the few I've played at stores here and there, were all a bit on the non-light side. As a previous poster mentioned, IMO The heavier, larger body seemed to contribute to the tone immensely.

P.S., I saw "Benny the Green Machine" again in your photo website. I forgot how cool that bass is!! Count me in if you ever decide to sell it! ;)

Thanks for the bump!

But I'll never sell Benny. Of all the basses I've ever had (whew!), it is absolutely my favorite -- warts and all. Sounds like me, plays great, light weight. I would almost assuredly sell my '69 P-Bass before I sell Benny. The only thing I have left to try is to drop a Nordie J5 or FatStack into the bridge slot to complement the Nordie P5 in the neck position.

In fact, the Benavente neck alone convinced me to look into having a custom Benavente SC built.
