Im debating on whether or not to get the ART Tube MP Studio V3 preamp or the Behringer Tube Ultragain MIC200 preamp to use for recording. Has anyone here had any expirience with either of these?

Has anyone here had any expirience with either of these? vanselus 01-23-2007, 12:09 PM I have both of them on loan right now. They're both surprisingly good boxes for the price, but very different sounds. What are you going for? bbe 01-23-2007, 04:24 PM im jsut looking for a cheap preamp that will enhance what i record a little bit. how do the two differ? vanselus 01-23-2007, 04:41 PM They would both work for your needs. The ART is thicker and fatter with less note definition and not quite as even. Very tubey though. The Behringer is less tubey, less bassy, but much more defined and even, with more midrange punch but it's a little harsher than the ART. Hope that helps... vanselus 01-23-2007, 04:42 PM Also, are you recording just bass or other instruments too? bbe 01-23-2007, 06:21 PM Also, are you recording just bass or other instruments too? im recording guitar, bass, vocals, and maybe saxaphone. vanselus 01-23-2007, 06:36 PM In that case, the ART may have more of an impact that you'll notice. The Behringer honestly sounds good, but it sounds more like a regular mixer channel than a tube preamp. It's all about the sound you're going for... bbe 01-23-2007, 06:43 PM In that case, the ART may have more of an impact that you'll notice.
