I've been playing bass for the last 15 minutes and I can't get the hang of it. My fingers are cramping up. Is there something wrong with them?

I'm usually good at things right away so this is strange. I told a friend of mine that I could play a gig this friday.

well that's borderline amusing. It'll be funny if it's someone I know having a wind up, and kind of annoying if it's someone I don't know....

I would hate to offend anyone if this is a serious enquiry. but I'm guessing that anyone who picked up a bass 15 mins ago and then found me, in this forum, before anyone else, is taking the piss.
