I like the thought of! IotaNet 01-29-2007, 02:10 PM Do you have pics.I'd like to see that myself! Lee Barker 01-29-2007, 04:40 PM Until we see his pics, we've got some questions. I, for one, am wondering, if I had one, where I'd find a left handed bassist to play the other half of the strings. Kindly, Lee yodedude2 01-29-2007, 07:53 PM Do you have pics. I am so sorry, I am having a lot of trouble with my digital camera. Even my daughter couldn't get it to work right! I'll try again tomorrow. In the meantinme, here is a terrible picture: http://esnips.com/doc/546fae66-ebd0-4bc5-a6a3-e4a4e2d680ba/bvb8 It has an Ibanez 32" scale neck, Schaller 8-string roller bridge, La Bella guitar tapewounds and T-I flatwounds. later, ron tplyons 01-29-2007, 08:06 PM I am so sorry, I am having a lot of trouble with my digital camera. Question: being that it's a 32" scale neck, did you move the bridge to compensate? JAUQO III-X 01-29-2007, 09:11 PM Interesting. yodedude2 01-30-2007, 07:21 AM Very interesting. Question: being that it's a 32" scale neck, did you move the bridge to compensate? Didnt have to: the Schaller is a drop-in replacement for the original bridge. The Ibanez fit the neck pocket very well. There is a small gap on either side of the neck in the pocket. The five-bolt neck attachment system works so well that you could swing the entire bass around by the neck with ease. (Not that I would!) Since the Ibanez is a short neck as well as a shorter-scale length, I was able to intonate all the strings with the bridge in the original position. The saddles are basically at the end of their travel on the g-strings. Anway, I still have the original neck, and the entire conversion process is reversible. I will add here that this project has underscored to me Lee's incredible and painstaking craftmanship in the construction of these basses. My own construction methods are amateurish and crude. This 8-string is definitely a sow's ear from a silk purse in terms of workmanship, but it is a lot of fun! later, ron yodedude2 01-30-2007, 07:25 PM I added a few more pictures. I'm sorry about the terrible picture quality; I just can't seem to get it right.:rollno: later, ron http://www.esnips.com/web/rdyodersOtherStuff |
