I recently bought a Mesa Walkabout combo from Talkbasser Richnota, and it's great.

But there I stand each time with my L-2500 Tribute wondering which input to use--active or passive. It sounds fine using either. What do you do?

This is the first amp I have had that cared what kind of electronics I had on my bass.

If the amp can handle it, use the passive. Every amp I have tried the passive sounds better if it doesn't get overwhelmed.

I agree. In my limited experience in the amps I've used active always seemed to cut the signal more than anything else. Anyway, you could always try it out yourself and see which sound you like more.

My new-to-me L-2500 just got here. Plugged it into the passive input of my iAmp. Seems hotter than most of my basses, but no problems. It's just on the verge of o-drive.

Definately watch that input, but I still think I'd try Passive first.

I always use the passive input. You can always turn it down and still have lots of headroom. :D
