Anyone have a suggestion for splitting my signal??
I need to send a line directly into my (1) UA 6176
a line to my (2) b-15 or sansamp
and have a (3) tuner in line (ideally i can mute to tune)...
i just want the simplest way to do this with no signal loss...
this seems like a good plan:

thanks for your help, this has me stumped....

You say "no signal loss", and any passive ABY is going to have signal loss, along the lines of 3db per split. I think that the Radial is a good device, and it would get the job done, but it doesn't meet your requirement.

If you really need "no signal loss" then you should be looking at something like this. The PCP is a very common sight in pro studios and live setups.
Frankly, since you are sending your signal out to a UA channel strip, an amp or amp sim, and a tuner, I don't get why you would need "no signal loss", but that's just me. You have two devices with the ability to recover 3dB (or more... much more) without breaking a sweat, and a tuner that could not care less about gain.

THIS (http://www.radialeng.com/di-jdv.htm) puppy right here is a gem on stage and in the studio. (IMO/IME)

Talk to the the engineer before you spend money - he/she will probably be able to hook you up with his/her preferred method.

I might not be understanding you. My sansamp has three outputs. One is parallel to the input the other two have gain potential. If you have a sansamp you have the splitter.

hey--
thanks for all the help....
I have been running into a Kern tube DI and using that to split the signal and tune (can hit the standby and tune silently) as needed. But i have found that i like tone better when plugging straight into the 6176....
So i want to do that but still have to option of running a 2nd line to an amp and tuning without unplugging and holding things up. The sans amp does have outputs, but I use an amp more often and would love to plug into the 6176 with the least stuff in front of it.
The people at radial have been very helpful and fast with responding to my question. Here's what they said:
Hi Tim;
This is a good question... because there are no really simple answers...
only options...
Criteria:
You want your bass to drive three devices at the same time: The bass amp,
the tuner and your pre-amp (in this case a direct box)
1. Passive Option ($ Least expensive)
If you use a device like the BigShot ABY, your signal will essentially be
'split' to drive these three devices. If you are using an active bass, then
driving several boxes at the same time is usually not a problem as the
preamp inside the bass will buffer the signal and make it all work.
If you are using an older P-Bass with passive pickups, you will find that
the level will invariably drop a bit as the signal is split.
2. Active Option (a) ($ Moderate)
If you use a device like the Switchbone to act as your buffer, it has three
outputs for the amp, tuner and your direct box / preamp. The Drag control on
the front end will counter any effect that the buffer may have and will give
you plenty of drive for all your devices.
3. 2. Active Option (b) ($ More bucks!)
Another great studio tool is the Radial JDV direct box. This handy unit has
two inputs to select between two basses, has four guitar outputs to drive
two amps, your other direct box, and a tuner and has a DI out for an
alternate sound to tape. The same Drag control is on the unit to dial in the
proper load for your pickups. Because of the class-A circuit, the extreme
rail voltage and the absence of stabilizing feedback loops, the sound is
very, very natural and would probably be a great compliment to your current
set up.
very cool of them to help me out--what do you guys think is the best option?? I don't have any problem buying the $450 DI if that solves this thing.
thanks.....

right on, that may be the plan. it looks like there's no way to mute to tune, but i can just turn the volume down on the bass, and just unplug when switching basses.....how does the DI on that sound anyway??

Transparent and quiet. what you put in comes out. It's really a great tool for live as well.
