...and it sounded great! The best direct sound I've personally achieved. The EQ was mostly flat, moderate compression set with a fast attack/slow release. The design uses preamp tubes, and they most certainly helped along a clear, warm, punchy sound. The compressor sounded fabulous as well.
I really considered buying a unit and mating it with a suitable power amp for gigs....that was until I woke up to smell the coffee I can't afford.
If you are in the market for a high-end combo front end for recording, or for a live rig, the Avalon is worth a listen and look (very elegant, very functional design)
