Is the finish real or foto-flame? If it's real, seems strange for an MIM. What year was it made?

2005 or 2006 by the serial number. Not sure about the foto-flame...I bought it used.

I'm not sure I'm the one to judge playability...it seems fine to me. Although I changed the pickguard, I didn't really look at the pickup routing but imagine it's the same as all MIM's.
