Had this for sale recently and changed my mind. Im just never going to be happy until I have a 70s jazz and this is the only way I can make that happen.
G&L JB-2 $630 shipped in a molded G&L hardcase. Alder/rosewood sunburst. The wood grain makes me suspect it could be ash but Im pretty sure its alder. Very nice condition overall - some play wear on the body where the finish is dulled a bit. A few nicks and scratches here and there. I have higher res pics for anyone who is interested just let me know.

Still not working...
I forgot to mention that the input jack is a bit loose. Never really bothered me. Should be a quick fix.

IMO, a JB-2 sounds better than most Jazz basses -- at least, mine does.
The hefty bridge and 6-bolt neck give the bass a stiffness that you can hear and feel before you even plug it in -- that G&L sustain and ring that you just can't get in a Jazz without expensive upgrades. And, the pickups are hot and somewhat microphonic in the sense that you're able to coax a lot of finesse out of the bass that can get lost on J-bass (or other bass for that matter). It really sounds different from my MFD-equipped G&Ls.
However, if you're a sloppy player, it can be a handful -- I know its helped me improve because all the nasties come right on thru. I have nowhere to hide with this bass. :hiding:
I've got/owned several J-basses and the only one that can touch my JB-2 is a fretless with Fralin replacement p'ups and a Badass II bridge. Expensive, but common upgrades for a Fender; the JB-2 doesn't need them.
My JB-2 also has the loose output jack. Must be a common malady. Fortunately, its pretty easy to replace.
hth.

I agree I have had at least 3 new MIA fender jazz basses and I like this one better than all of them.

Find out what all the other G&L JB2 players already know - these are sweet basses! Just about the best J style bass in its price range.
