I've got a Spector with the HZ and the 2 band eq in it. I want to swap out both HZ, but for right now do to money, I will only be able to do one at a time, so I want to throw a P40 in the neck.

My questions are:
1) How do I plug it into the EQ
2) Is this pick-up good enough to skip the EQ
3) Are there better options for a beefy deep pup that will fit
4) Is the volume difference in the HZ and the P40 extreme

thanks guys.

1) (assuming the P40's active) same as the HZ only wire the pre (red) lead in with the positive of the battery - like diagrams on the EMG site.

2) only you can determine that

3) I really don't play neck pups except for reviews so not one to comment

4) Haven't had the P40 but I've had an active EMG P and I don't recall an astronomical variation in output from the Hz. A neck pup is inherently loud by virtue of it's location but most basses have a volume knob to adjust that to suit need. I wouldn't expect it to be an issue. But brings something to mind: don't know what's in the spec electronics but EMG active rec is 25K volume.
