I am fairly new here,but I have read some of your threads as well as checked out your site and I have a great respect for you as a Bass Player and all around musician....here's my deal and maybe you can guide me.I'm 45 yrs old,I've been playing for probably 30 yrs. Visions of grandeur as a youngster but then having children at 23 and then getting day jobs and other than music careers to raise them took me away or shall I say I allowed it to take me away from serious music study.I have a good ear and decent time and grooving abilities.But my reading is lacking and when it comes to soloing my vocabulary is limited,done by ear and patterns...anyhow ,do you recommend any books that could help me.....I do have so much more time to study and play now that the kids are off in college and embarking on their own journeys.

Hi Craig,

Your best bet is to find the best teacher you can afford. Books and DVD's (mine included) are great...but it's ideal to have to be accountable to a teacher every couple of weeks. That's what I would recommend.

Also, if you haven't already....check out my soloing thread here at my forum. Try following that advice and see what kind of results you get. If you have questions or need help, don't hesitate to let me know. Cool???....Cool!!!...:cool:
