So I've been playing bass for awhile, and I play on a 5 string but I never really messed with Scales until recently.
I picked up a guitar and started learning how to play it, and I was finding that learning scales was really improving the way that I play, so the part where I get confused is here.
The names of the strings on the guitar are E B G D A E, the names of the string on my bass are G D A E B, so if the C Major Scale on guitar is
E------------------------0-1-3
B-------------------0-1-3-----
G---------------0-2-----------
D----------0-2-3--------------
A-----0-2-3-------------------
E0-1-3------------------------
Then would my C Major Scale on the 5 string be
G----------------------0-2
D----------------0-2-3----
A----------0-2-3----------
E-----0-1-3---------------
B0-1-3--------------------
?
Just in case anyone really doesnt understand what im asking, im asking if since I dont have a High B on the bass, would I start the scale on my B string and play it the same way i would on the guitar?
I figured It would becuase E and B are right next to eachother on guitar, but Would this rule only apply to the C major scale? or could I do this with all scales, instead of starting on E I would start on low B?
