Hello,

I have received this Custom Warmoth in a trade recently.

http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q268/anthenium/Body1.jpg

Specs:

Warmoth Body:
Dinky P Carved Top
I believe it's Black Korina w a Flamed Maple top option
Routed at Warmoth for a Gotoh 206 Bridge
Gotoh 206 Bridge inset in body

Warmoth Neck (34" scale, Jazz spacing + profile):
Goncalo Alves Neck Wood w Ebony fret board
Side Markers Only
Brass Nut Installed
Schaller Tuners

Duncan MM Pickup
Duncan Pre-Amp BEQ-3 circuit (w internal trim pots), which gives 12db of cut and/or boast control of the bass, middle and treble frequencies. A 'slap' switch is also included, activated via a push/pull master volume control, which adds an aggressive mid-range attack.
String-Thru Ferrules and route
Chrome Knobs
Strings (D'Addario Nickle Wounds)
Stap Buttons (Schaller I think)

Full assembly by Thurston Instruments (body, electronics, neck, etc, etc) and neck leveling, crowning, polish, fret dress, and full setup, etc, etc

It plays AWESOME! But I'm finding the E string is considerably louder than the a d g strings. I have lowered the pickup on the Bass side about 1/4", but it still BOOMS!

I'm not really familiar with Duncan Active Electronics, or MusicMan tone controls. (It took me 3 times playing it before I realized the controls were V T M B:rolleyes: ) How I might balance this BASS-Heavy sound? I play through an SWR 2x10C + SWR WM 410T, which has a 4004 head for Power. 5 band EQ covers tonal coloring.

Thanks,

HMMM...personally i think that maybe you need to just either A lower your bass to accommodate the 'bassyness' of this bass...OR maybe try a real thin gauge of strings. that will help. also try raising the E string action a little if its still no good. if its STILL bad...maybe try the truss rod!

I think I have it pretty close to Perfect.

I pushed on the Pup's springs, and noticed the Over-Powering BOOM was cleared up! So I lowered the Bass side of the pickup 1/4", and it seems to be about equal between the E & A strings. It was a Bit Trebley with all tone controls centered. I have the tone cotrols set to T -3, M +2, B Centered. Very Warm sounding like this.

On the amp I have a 5 band Eq. I use the recomended Rock setting, with the exception of Hi-Mid, which is cut to almost -5. Takes a lot of CLick-i-ness out of the sound.

B +4 - Lo-Mid +2 - Mid Centered - Hi-Mid -4 T +2

I may try a lighter gauge string as well. Thanks for your suggestions. I'm REALLY enjoying this new bass now.
