vlad335 03-03-2007, 09:17 PM Here is a pic of these two 8 ohm cabs in my rig.

I have owned these for about four years and have never even considered selling them until now. The main reason is I want to add more cabinets for a hard rock gig ( Four cabs plus SWR 18") and these are all but impossible to find. Have a favorite search plugged into Ebay for awhile now and they rarely come up, when they do they sell quickly. I know this sounds like BS but I am being 100% honest. I want matching looks as well as sensitivity.
That being said these cabs have never let me down. I can't ever remember them breaking up or farting and they have always sounded great in my rig. Powerful, Warm, punchy, with great growl and perfect snap. Never harsh and no goofy overtones to EQ out. I have heard that they compare to early SWR's. I don't know... never heard them personally. Been gassing for them though.

Now the negative.
First. These cabs like power. If you have a 150 watt head these are not for you. (I think they are rated at 96db efficiency.) I feed them 1000 watts bridge mono and they don't even break a sweat.
Second. They are not lightweight. They were introduced at the time when everyone was clamoring for lighter/smaller cabs and they tanked in the marketplace. I am leaning towards a local sale because of this. I could ship them but I would rather not. (Guessing the 2-12 would be about 50-60 dollars.)
Prices.
HD-212 $300
HD-210 $200 SOLD
Thanks for looking.
How much does the 2x10 weigh, and how many watts is it rated at?
Also, does it have a tweeter?
vlad335 03-04-2007, 10:46 AM The 2-10 weighs 60lbs. It has a 1" horn tweeter and is rated at 350 watts.
THe 2-12 has a 6" midrange, weighs 95lbs, and is rated at 600 watts.
Thanks
tombowlus 03-05-2007, 10:36 AM Bump for some KILLER sounding cabs! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:
311fan 03-05-2007, 12:20 PM I already have a HD212. Do you have any experience playing with 2 hd212? How do the 210 and 212 sound together compared to just the 212 alone?
How does the 2x12 sound? Would it be good paired up with a 1x15, or do you think the 2x10 would be a better combination with a 1x15?

I couldn't tell you how 2 of them sound together but thats the setup I originally wanted, just couldn't afford another HD-212 at the time.
The 212 has less highend but it's smoother D/t the 6" midrange. The 210 has a horn tweeter and I think we all know what these sound like. However its not harsh like the Goliath III cab I owned in the past. These 2 cabs compliment each other very well.

I have two of the HD212's and one HD210. The two HD212's have a slightly warmer, slightly bigger, very punchy and visceral tone. The HD212/HD210 stack is a little more open, has more high end (as you would expect, given the tweeter on the HD210), and overall a bit more snappy and quick. Both rigs sound great, with the two 2x12's being a bit more old school and the 212/210 a bit more modern.
Tom.
Wouldn't pairing these two cabinets together cause damage to the 2x10 as soon as you played at a higher volume, because the 2x10 is only 350 watts while the 2x12 is 600 watts?
vlad335 03-05-2007, 02:59 PM Tombowlus beat me to the reply. Did a fantastic job describing the sound too.
UPDATE: I am swamped with interest today. However, a Talkbasser from Tennessee has first dibs on me shipping these cabs. No one local has offered to buy these outright yet. This is what I would much rather do than ship them.
I noticed that I didn't state the condition of the cabs. Sorry. Structurally and sonically they are perfect. A couple edges have cat scratch areas but its not bad at all. ( He quicky learned not to do this anymore) Nothing is through the carpet though.

You would think that but it hasn't hurt them at all. First I always use compression so theres no wild dynamics to contend with and secondly, The 18" handles everything below 60-70hz. ( I love biamping! ) In my expereince you can go double the rated power with no problem as long as you are careful. Not enough power is more dangerous IMHO.
Heres a pic of my home theater system.

THe 3 poweramps on the right side are in bridge mono and supplying 500 watts to each of the 3 front speakers. These speakers are rated at 150 watts and crossed over at 100hz. I have been running this system for a year with no problems. It sounds freakin awesome actually.
THere is no substitute for headroom.

Hey vlad, if the TBer from Tennesse backs out, let me know. I'm interested in the 2x10.
vlad335 03-06-2007, 02:41 PM Thanks to everyone for the interest. Sale pending to a great local Talkbasser.
vlad335 03-12-2007, 09:23 AM Hd-212 cab is now available for local sale/pickup. I can also drive to meet someone within a reasonable distance. I have this listed on the local craigslist as well. I really don't want to ship this after reading the thread on Talkbass about driver magnets snapping off, etc.
The local buyer didn't fully realize the weight and size of this cab and the difficulties transporting with his car. Thats cool.
A interesting note: I took the cab to Guitard Center yesterday just for the helluvit to see what they would give me. I knew they would make me an offer like I was a crackhead who just stole it but I was bored. They tested the cab using a active Warwick Corvette through a GK 1001 head and it sounded thunderous. The tester tried to make the speakers breakup as best he could with volume and adding excessive lowend to no avail. Slamming the strings only suceeded in overdriving the GK's input! After this he sat there and proceed to play for 10 straight minutes until I said WTH. :D
BTW GC didn't disappoint with a ridiculous offer. They said they couldn't find one listed on Ebay so it was too obscure. LOL.
If I could find 3 more of these cabs it would not be for sale. I don't care about weight and have the means to transport them but they are all but impossible to find now.

Arghhh! Missed your message by minutes!
Went to Home Depot for remodelling supplies ( Bathroom ) and my wife turned the trip into a shopping expedition for the perfect bath towels and accessories. Being lead around Linens & Things will make a man lose his will to live. :(
Anyway... Just got home and PM replied to.
