Hi! I'm ordering my first warmoth bass, and I don't know if order a 1 piece body. Does it woth the 40 extra bucks? Someone told me that if wood is not correctly dried, it can deform later...
Also I'm not sure if choose black korina or alder. I'm building a jazz bass, in a sunburst finish, and I like how korina looks, but also like how alder sounds... I play rock and I want a warm punchy and growly tone, so which wood is better?

Personally, I'd opt for the Korina, better looking, and should give you the sound you want. IMNSHO

Wood can deform if not properly seasoned whether it is one, two, or more pieces. So in that regard it doesn't matter. Mostly it is for looks.

I am sure Warmoth's seasoning process is fine so don't worry too much about deformation, just keep it away from extreme sources of heat (radiators, etc) and extreme sources of moisture (rain, steam, etc).

I've heard the same thing about 1 piece bodies moving. I think they said it's something to do with the higher possibility of internal stress. Warmoth is probably fairly good at sniffing that sort of thing out or preventing it. That said, it's not worth the extra money. A good join is nearly impossible to distinguish from a solid piece of wood. If it's important to you though, go for it.

I'd say no, it's not worth the extra money. I think a 2 piece end-matched body looks much better than one piece.

And, I vote for Korina... I can't wait to get my hands on some of that!

Thanks guys. I think I'll pass on the 1 piece body, and keep that money for the pickups and preamp! And yes, it's going to be a 3TSunburst Korina! I can't wait to see it...
