about 800 sq ft i think :) ..

no room for a spray booth .. lol. do one project at a time.. but it does get cumbersome finishing a project before i clean up all the dust / shavings / tools ..

Sweet....I have 650 sq ft, but 60 of that is my spray booth. Plenty of room for me though, I do instruments, and some one off custom cabinetry and other alloted small projects...LOL

cool ... I've got a small spray setup .. no HVLP stuff .. just cheap Harbor Freight stuff that I've used on a few tables .. but I only do a few projects a year out there so it's not really warranted to get a full booth setup.

Luthering would be a different story .. being able to hang the piece and twist it and turn it and get even coats is tough business!

no HVLP here either.....don't like it personally, I am old school, high pressure devilbiss, and binks guns, Ingersol compressor, cross feed downdraft system with 1200 cfm exhaust. When I built my new shop, I did everything the way I wanted it. No contractors, no outside advisors, just me and 2 years of building, insulating, electrical, drywall, paint, and a lot of headaches...LMAO but it came out pretty nice. This is just my work area....24 lnear feet of benches, will post some other iews after I clean up a bit.....been very busy...LOL

hehe .. cool. i like those benches! i wish I built custom cabinets under mine, i got cheap steel things that have no shelves in them, just doors .. got 'em for a deal though at $20 a pop .. .. I've got about 16' of linear .. then a 4x6 assembly table and a 24"x72" solid maple workbench.

i did all the electrical, insulate, drywall of my shop too .. go back to my site and look at the progress pics from like 2002 to present and see the differences in tools .. etc. used to have 2 outlets in that space .. now i have 7 circuits and 18 outlets ..

hehe .. I wanted to do mine right .. ran about 500ft of 12 gague for 20 amp circuits..

TS / DC / Planer / Jointer / all have their own separate circuits so I can convert to 220 when needed. already did with TS and Jointer :)

funny story when I was running the wire .. 12 gague romex now is yellow .. when I did this in '03 ... I had bought a 250 foot roll of white 12 gague .. ran out .. went back to home depot .. everything else was yellow and 14 gague was white! uh oh! .. 14 gague only works with 15 amp ..

came back home .. found the wrapper ... plus looked on the label on the wire .. I musta got the last batch of 12 gague white that they sold.. lol.

LMAO.....not sure you would want to trade Santa Cruz for Michigan, but you're welcome anytime. The circumstances that lead to me building this shop were a bit annoying, but it's sure nice to not pay a lease anymore.

Dood....I had never done electrical before, and the guy at Home depot kept talking about the white 12 and the yellow 12, I had no clue, just wanted 12-3 Romex and didn't care about the color, I realized when the city inspector came(who happens to be a Jazz Bass player...hehehehehehe) that if I had done it in white, it would have had to be ripped out and replaced with yellow to meet code. Needless to say, the inspector being a bass player(and now a customer)really helped out. He gave me a heads up on everything, and was very patient due to the length of time on the project. He was at my shop 12 times over 18 months before I got everything done( not just the electrical, the whole interior of the shop):hiding: 2 years tototally complete for pouring the cement to finishing the paint. Done by myself with some help from my wife.(Friends are worthless unless they want something)

JC, can I be your friend? You did say we're close enough to be neighbors right?:D Anyway I'm not sure if any TB'er around the St.Paul/Minneapolis has any shops. Reading all these threads on ppl's projects really motivates me to build my own bass. How much would it cost to build a bass if one (me;) ) had the wood, design, template, etc. and just need your shops & tools?
