Yes, a luthier level stand project. The pictured prototype was built over 20 years ago by my Dad out of teak, as a gift for me.

The stand breaks down to 3 pieces and will fit in a gig bag. The front 2 leg base has a high fascia, keeps the bass from kicking outward if you bump the headstock. There are 3 felt pad bass contact areas, worn off from my years of use/storage, which I would like to glue on some non slip rubber, or inlay soft material.

So, I am templating it dimensionally and going down to a mill shop to pick out a plank of curly maple to match Bud's nearly completed T-Rex 5. I'll update the thread as I go....

Sweet! And clever knock-down, too. Might copy that...;)

Do it. Thats why I put it here....if enough like it, I'll put up the template with dimensions.

I'd definitely go find some plush, crushed velvet. Bright crimson or violet. And some foam, then wrap the velvet around, and glue into place. Have a very comfy cozy, padded and compressable padding. Make sure it looks as good as the rest of the stand!

Quite worthy of a king's instrument.

That would be very nice, thank you very much!

Use TRIBAL's exotic wood! HA HAAA!!

Man... a mahogany stand would look fantastic. Or even bamboo! What about cedar? Wonderful natural smell left in your gig bag, absorb nasty odors...
