The piece of maple at the bottom seems to start getting spalted?
The piece of maple at the bottom seems to start getting spalted?
I noticed that as well. Is that just weird lighting from a flash or is it actually beginning to spalt?

wilser 03-11-2007, 10:25 AM oh man, my sincerest condolences ...this is going to be hard work. My suggestion would be to use a table saw to remove the body wings ...there seems to be plenty of mahogany left for the body width.
Remember, you always have to be a couple of steps ahead of the whole process. Before you commit something (cut, glue, rout) you have to think carefully about what lies ahead.
Best of luck to you.

Tomis17 03-12-2007, 09:45 AM Please show more pics on any progress. It would be extremely helpful for those of us that have yet to start. Thanks!
spudmaster34 03-12-2007, 03:59 PM or, you could leave the neck sticking up like that, and glue the top on next to it, so you would see the top, then the neck lams, then the top. You don't have to cut off the body wings, it will be alot of work but you can do it if you try

First:
Great looking bass!
Second:
Wouldn't it been a lot easier if you had cut out the back of the neck before glueing the body wings and the fretboard?
Wood Ascention 05-02-2007, 04:20 PM Lookin good!!

It was like some crazy suspense movie when you said that you hadn't cut the neck but glued everything up. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I love the maple and wenge. and that spalt top is to killer

PilbaraBass 10-05-2007, 05:19 AM very VERY nice...but how close is that g string to the edge of the fretboard?
