I personally would never use a zero-fret on a fretless all the best, R Fishbrain 03-13-2007, 09:47 AM thanks everyone! can u get a fretted bass without a zero fret, fitted with a zero fret? or does there have to be space made for it from the start? eleonn 03-13-2007, 09:49 AM I got a bit curious about this. What if you put a zero fret and take as much of the crown away as needed so you could get the fret as high as the slots are close to the fb on fretless? Rodent 03-13-2007, 10:10 AM thanks everyone! can u get a fretted bass without a zero fret, fitted with a zero fret? or does there have to be space made for it from the start? you need to plan for it from the start, as the fret slot would need to be installed right where the bridge side of the nut is. since you have a big roomy 1/8" slot for the nut, it would be difficult for the .023" fret tang to have anything to grip to if you were to attempt a retro fit. all the best, R Musiclogic 03-13-2007, 10:16 AM If there is enough materal behind the existing nut, it can be done. if the nut is placed right at the end of the fretboard, it would be quite a bit of work to do it.
