Feeler/trade: Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn fiver with a rosewood board. I'm looking for the exact same thing with maple board.

Specs: Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn five string in Lake Placid blue. Mint pickguard (and imagine how awesome a tort would look too). Lindy Fralin pickups. Factory installed J-Retro preamp w/ fresh 9v. Mostly new DR Low Riders strung through the bridge. And a while back I replaced the plastic nut with a bone nut, which makes a noticeable difference.

Condition: not a scratch on it except for a ding in the headstock which isn't visible onstage or when you're playing it. It was recently professionally set up (when I got the bone nut).

More info: When I got it, I swore I would never sell it. I love it and have posted its praises in threads and other for sale ads for similar basses. But recently I've discovered that compared to maple, I really don't like the sound and "response" I get from rosewood so I've decided to switch to something with a maple board.

What I'd really like is for someone to offer to trade me (maybe +/- cash) for a JO5 with maple board. The color doesn't matter as I like most of the finishes but I'd kind of prefer LPB since I've really fallen in love with Lakland's take on it. I'd also take a 55-02. I'm specifically interested in Laklands but I'd consider something reasonably close in terms of sound and feel.

If you're interested, let me know in here and I'll post some pictures in a day or two.

For the rules: There was recently a JO5+LPB with maple board and Sadowsky pre which went for $950 so if you want to buy it outright, I guess that's my asking price. Feel free to make offers since that one didn't have any dings and this has one.

I can't get to Talkbass at work, so email (msquared@gmail.com) if you want a quick response.

Bump.. I'd also consider a Stingray 5 if it's the right one.

How much does this baby weigh?
Is the neck one of the slimmer profile, or more rounded thicker profile necks?

Thanks man

The neck measurements are the same as a 55-94, 55-02, or 55-01 if you've ever played those. It's got a different neck than the DJ5 does but I'm not sure how they differ as I've never played one.

What's the string spacing at the bridge on the JOs? It looks about 19-ish, but I don't know how accurately I can guess just by looking at it.

Bump for a gorgeous bass.

EDIT - Found it on the Lakland site. If I remember correctly 3/4" = 19mm.

Thanks Jeff.
All my Lakland 5vers have different neck profiles...depending who did the final sanding.
Some end up quite slim in profile and very comfy to my hand, and others are more bassball bat type profile and can take some getting used to...sort of like old Jazz bass compared to say 70's era P basses.

I was wondering if you can comment on that?

Also, the weight is critical to me, if you can tell us.

Thanks again

I've never noticed anything like that within a specific model group with any Lakland bass, and certainly nothing as extreme as jazz vs precision. It just feels the same as the basses I've played listed above, all of which have the same neck measurements according to Lakland's website. I've A/B'd it with a friend's 55-02 and another friend's 55-94 a couple times and never noticed a real difference. I never A/B'd it with my old 55-01 but it's similar to what I remember it being.

If it helps, I have a 1st gen G&L L-2500 which I've been playing on recently and that thing is like a freaking tree trunk compared to the JO5's neck. But the JO5 isn't exactly a Fender Geddy Lee, you know?

I'll get it weighed somehow ASAP. I have no bathroom scale but I'll see what I can arrange. :)

I'm glad it's no tree trunk....Phew!

Does it feel like a heavy bass, or a lightweight?

looking forward to weight results....It sure is stunning....real perrrrty!

I've had the opportunity to play this bass several times. It's set up quite well and has a very comfortable neck. I consider the sound to be very "modern" or "hi-fi" compared to my Fender American Deluxe Precision V. Plenty of sheen to the sound.

It's a very nice bass, and Matt's an honest seller.

Since Groovin's LPB with maple is back up for grabs, I'm now considering all money offers on this.

Trade you my 55-02 so that you can trade the 55-02 to him (he's looking for one in his ad).
