I have been advised not to use lemon oil on the fretboard of my Roscoe (it's brazilian rosewood), and instead to use 'red oil', does anyone know what this is? (I'm in the uk)

I've never heard anything about a red oil, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. They'll probably tell you to use mineral oil. Musiclogic 03-14-2007, 10:43 PM Red Oil is a combination of Walnut and Almond oil. This used to bethe furniture industry standard for rejuvenating unfinished wood. The only company that makes it still is Olde English, and it can be hard to find other than in Case form from Ace Hardware Online. One alternative is Mahoney's Walnut Oil from Woodcraft....you can also find pure Almond oil from various woodworking wholesalers.
