I bought these many years ago with hopes of building a project bass around them. Little did I know that you need an Alembic preamp, rather than just any preamp. I waited for one to pop up on Ebay at an affordable price, but never succeeded. I never tried them out, but I'm fairly certain that they're fully functional. I can meter them out if you want me to. (If you buy them, and they don't work, I'll make things right and give you a full refund, but I believe they work.) I've always kept them in a padded envelope and in my house, never in the garage or damp basement.

They have some scratches on them. There no other marks on them to identify what model pickups they are, so I have no idea (I'm assuming they were form an Epic bass) They have plenty of lead length on them that has never been cut. They have the brown connectors on them. (The white half on the left of the bottom pickup is just bad lighting.)

According to this Evilbay auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=120100279014&rd=1&rd=1

these pickups are MXY56 pickups. I realize that they would be worth much more to someone if I had an Alembic pre to go with them. But I think $200 is a fair price, and unfortunately, that's as low as I'm willing to go. Any less, and I'd might as well just keep them for myself to hopefully someday put in a bass.

If you're talking about the original TRBs with the slim single coils, then these will probably require some routing to lengthen the cavities, although they may be shorter than those too. So you may have some space at the ends. If you're talking about the humbuckers that are on the TRB IIs, then these will definitely fit. The Alembics have an all around smaller 'footprint'. The Yamaha pickups are 3/16" longer (from mounting tab to tab), 3/16" longer (from inside of mounting tab to inside of mounting tab), 5/16" narrower, and 1/4" thicker than the Alembic. Here's pics:

These might be some use to me, will check my bass tonight and see if they will fit. Would you be willing to post to Sydney, Australia, at my expense?

Cheers,

EG

Probably yes assuming that I don't have to jump through hoops at the post office or worry about any crazy customs stuff.

Thanks

Sorry, don't think they will fit my bass without crashing into the control cavity or being fitted off-centre and looking bad. However, I'll have a look into the crystal ball and see if I can use them for something else in future, as it's a good price and I already have an Alembic circuit to go with them...

You are the only guy that's shown any real interest in them (other than a guy in France, but he hasn't gotten back to me in a while).

Let me know when you come to a final desicion.

Thanks agian

Pickups arrived safe and sound, thanks for a great job, Dan! Might be a week before I can install them in something, or longer if I need routing, not trying that myself!

Will leave feedback if I can figure out how to do it...

Cheers,

EG
