Hey I noticed that Warmoth has a couple teak necks for sale? I know this wood is used quite a bit in the marine world, but have never heard of it used in luthiery. If I remember correctly, the wood is expensive, but is hard, stiff, medium density, and has natural oils similar to rosewood. Anybody know what it sounds like?

Teak sounds a lot like Mahogany, with a quicker attack, and little better sustain.

Teak is cool, but oily. I did a Teak set of cabinets last summr for a friends 1950's ChrisCraft Commander 53 ft. boat. Turned out nice, and he loved the look. Have tought about using it, Carvin used it for a while in the late 70's and early 80's

Chapman uses it or at least used to use it in their Sticks.
