NuclearBurger 03-24-2007, 03:24 PM These guys make some amazingly fun music. Simple and catchy but with a nice creative twist. And they go crazy live... I'm loving the dvd they just released. I definitely can't wait to see them again.
Roy has some pretty nice bass lines, too... And the p-bass tone is superb.

blackbassist 03-24-2007, 04:46 PM i saw the video for "chaos" a few weeks ago
i like em.
anyone else think the singer sounds like sting?
Basshole 03-24-2007, 05:37 PM Nice. Thanks for that. Enjoyed it.
Jimbo 03-24-2007, 05:45 PM saw these guys live about a year ago. fun music--although i'm not crazy about the lead singer's voice or lyrics

I was going to say, music sounds fun, singer sounds annoying and lyrical content is a letdown. Shame, I'm on the prowl for "fun" music because I don't have enough.

yeah exactly how i feel. i mean the music alone has some great moments, but you're right on about the lyrical content--a real letdown.
Doodaddy 03-24-2007, 10:54 PM I haven't heard them yet, but they're supposed to be a very innovative band as far as synth work is concerned.
iamlowsound 03-24-2007, 11:20 PM Great band, I have been into them since before their demo came out (bootlegs FTW). Although I have been a fan for a long time I have never seen them live and they played in a small club in my city two weeks ago and I couldn't go because I was out of the country. It was a bit of a letdown, then I remembered that I was in Mexico.

scuba steve 03-25-2007, 01:31 PM i saw them live sometime last year or the year before, i can't remember, but it was one of my favorite live shows ever.
jbl71004 03-25-2007, 01:42 PM If you're looking for some good fun bass playin', check out Menomena's new one Friend & Foe. Not sure if they've been mentioned here before, but the full album stream can be found at their website menomena.com. Click on the link for Friend and Foe. Nothing complicated, but the interaction between the drums and bass is great. The end of Wet and Rusting and the entire song Running are my favorite moments, but the bass is cool throughout.
OrionManMatt 03-25-2007, 02:04 PM One of the most entertaining bands I've seen live in a long, long time. They love coming to Houston so I've had the chance to see them each time they have come here. I personally disagree about the lyrical content, because the lyrical content and simplicity allow the music to be the driving force and catalyst. But to each their own.
I love their EP too. Love.
musickbox 03-25-2007, 02:36 PM Favorite band at the moment. I think I haven't been awed by any other live act like I've had with these guys. They are also super nice guys, great musicians, gearheads, and lovers of music. I am waiting for the live DVD. Hopefully I can see what the bassist uses. He gets an aweome P-bass sound.
Adam Barkley 03-25-2007, 03:03 PM Meh. I'd listen to Dredg or Casket Salesmen before I'd listen to these guys.

i remember when i saw them live he pulled out a really sweet looking white p-bass with a fretless rosewood fretboard at one point!
Phat Ham 03-25-2007, 03:36 PM Saw them live a week ago at the 9:30 club in DC. Very entertaining show. The guy plays a keytar for chrissake.

I just watched the DVD this afternoon, from what I could tell he was playing a fretted pbass in what looked like transparent rootbeer. So it is either a custom shop or from the 70's. It also sounded like he was using rounds, that is kind of a guess, but he was using a pic for part of it and pic+flats=/=sound like that.
