Bassists in Scotland; who does your setup work? I'm looking to my bass adjusted a bit (definitely some work on the bridge, and possibly some fingerboard planing), and I'm looking for recommendations. I know of several general stringed instrument luthiers who seem fairly well regarded, but I'm wondering if there's anyone out there who's particulary bass friendly and aware of the setup needs of non-classical players. Ideally they would be in Edinburgh, but Glasgow is manageable too. Any suggestions?

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but I too am looking for recommendations for DB Luthiers in Scotland.
I finally managed to replace my old cheapo stentor 1950 blonde bass, which was stolen along with our van in Rome last October :crying:
We took a peek in the Violin shop in Glasgow last month and ended up leaving with a beautiful Zeller bass.
I'm loving everything about it right now. but from reading these forums one thing is re-iterated time and time again:
"get a set-up for your new bass "
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Also this is my first post in the DB forums, hi there! I've been lurking on this site for a while now
gleaning a whole host of useful info! thanks TBers! :D
Thanks in advance.
Ian.

Hi Guys
I know it's not scotland but there's Steve Ramsey in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, he does all my Double Bass work he's very good and really reasonable. He rebuilt my old Jacquet Gand last year and has done set-ups on both it and my Wan-Bernadel as well as installing Fishman Full Circle's on both basses.
You can contact Steve on 079506 986144

I've ended up using Ken McDonald too. He's a jazz bassist, so he definitely understands good setup for this style, and has always been pleasant to deal with.
