I've been learning this song recently and to me it's really sleazy, if a song can feel that way. The way the bass works with the song really adds to the whole feel of it IMO.

I think the bassist is Melissa Auf De Maur, who it turns out also did a small tour with The Smashing Pumpkins and wrote a song or two with them.

Anyway, I digress. I hope this is the right place to ask, but I'm wondering how Hole achieve the bass tone in their song, Celebrity Skin. Any advice appreciated I've been messing with the EQ on my amp but not really getting close.

Sorry can't help with the eq.

It was indeed Melissa Auf De Maur, and she did indeed tour with Smashing Pumpkins. Her self titled solo album is excellent too. Very simple yet effective playing.

My favourite song off Celebrity Skin is "Awful" and she uses a slight flange in the solo section, mids about 12 o clock and some snap in the lower end.
