Pants-poopingly brilliant! They did "Sgt. Pepper (Reprise)/A Day In The Life," "Penny Lane," and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." From the looks of the pics on Howardstern.com, Will used a cream colored 4001 with flats, and for my money, I couldn't tell him apart from McCartney. And the arrangements! Holy cow! I don't know how they made 2 string players and 4 horns sound like an orchestra, but they did.

I love the whole concept behind the Fab Faux where they do the music but don't try to be identical to the Beatles with their voices and looks. I've seen a couple Beatlemania shows and that was the one thing I didn't like. It was too much of a copy. The Fab Faux tries to get the arrangements down identically, but rather than be carbon copies, they try to capture the spirit. After hearing them, I can understand why their ticket prices are so ridiculously high. If you missed them on the Stern show, you really missed a treat.

So only two of us on Talkbass like Will Lee? Wow, think how unloved Mike Merritt must feel!

I heard them on Howard a year or so back, just before he left the airwaves, they were amazing. I must see them live soon.

Bah...Howard's the greatest radio personality in history. That's why he can have a band on like the Fab Faux whereas most other radio shows wouldn't have a clue what to do with them.

Name one who's done more. Limbaugh is the closest, but what he does with about 200 stations, Howard did better with about 70 stations. Plus he put satellite radio on the map and singlehandedly saved Sirius from destruction. Not to mention the whole "Vote For Sanjaya" movement which is working beautifully.

But anyway, regardless of whether you like him or not, you have to respect what he's done.

I've seen them several times, never cease to impress me.

Great band to see live......although I can do without Wil's completely retarded dancing while wearing elton john's old wardrobe. :rollno:

"Hoo, Hoo Robin, I invented Radio, and the Beatles, and showed Will how to play bass".

Howard who???? Opie and Anthony!:D

All jokes aside...Will is a great talent and the rest of the Fab Faux are awsome....Glad they got some air play.

Oh no! An O&A fan at Sadowsky! Oh well, enjoy them while you can. Heads are rolling at CBS Radio, thanks in part to their crappy ratings. But what do you expect from the worst Howard clones in the business who take every opportunity to dump on him while imitating his entire show?

BTW, it's "Hoo Hoo."

Actually they're nowhere near #1 in most major markets. They're currently 21st in NYC. Sorry, I know this is the wrong place for it, but I wasn't real crazy about them bashing me and my podcast and agreeing with some fat psycho teenager who came to my house one day in their name and said that I stole the name from Ron and Fez, which I most certainly didn't. I haven't even heard Ron and Fez since they had the Ron and Ron show in Florida in the 90's. I think O&A are borderline psychotic and they encourage their pest army to do things that is eventually going to result in someone getting killed, especially if they show up unannounced at my house again.

Yep, I heard em on there. I listen to Howard religiously. O&A could only hope to someday be half the radio personality that Howard is.

Ya, really! On the other hand, I like Jim Norton a lot. He's a real funny standup comic. They should give the O&A show to him.

at the risk of turning this into a howard stern bashing/praising thread (oops...too late). no other personality can grab so much attention for a pay service and for those who weren't convinced to pick up sirius by stern, you are REALLY missing out. the music channels are incredible and have no commercials. turn on soul town and just jam along. that alone is worth the price, but add in stern, and booya!

I did not know that.

oh yeah...believe it. Get past the "entertainment news" portayal of him (listen to the show, and you'll realize the impact of everyone involved in the show is the real attraction), and you'll be greatly rewarded. (side note, O&A are lame HS ripoffs). The HS show's rich historical list of great, great musical guests as performers and/or interviewees *and seemingly most honestly as themselves* is staggering. Don't flame me if you don't know what I'm talking about...

JimmyM
03-31-2007, 12:21 AM
Ya, people who have never heard him have this impression of Howard's show as nothing but dick jokes and lesbians. Don't get me wrong...there are lots of dick jokes and lesbians, but the guy can speak intelligently on a number of topics and his interviews are the best in the business because he can get info from his guests that nobody else can. Sure, his ego has run amok, but like Jaco said, "It ain't bragging if you can back it up."

Ah, so you're one of those fans who hates him but listens. That's OK, he's got a lot of them. Their money spends, too.

Not a fan, neither then nor now. I have many friends who are though, and at their hands I have been subjected to Howard too many times. I just didn't want anyone to think I've formed my opinion of him without some amount of experience.

Note also that I wouldn't have steered this thread so OT (I am sincere in my appreciation of both Will Lee and Beatle's tunes), but you asked!

If you've heard Stern then you must at least admit that he's the King of All media.

:D

Never been a fan, his brand of humor always seemed too "easy" to me. Who can't think of something they really shouldn't say? And people who are shocked by someone they know is trying to shock them can't be very bright IMO. I'll give him credit for catering to his fanbase.

At some point don't you just have to say: "You know what? I "can" believe he just said that".

Will Lee is great. Been a fan since the 70's.

not your brand of humor = all good.

inferring that stern's fans listen because they are shocked = bad assumption

stereotyping a fanbase of millions of people as having low intelect = ignorance

i've been a die hard fan of stern for quite some time now and the one thing he never does is shock me. he does, however, entertain me to the point that i've been late to work because i wanted to hear how things panned out on the show.

love him or hate him, that's your choice, but flaming people for their tastes in entertainment is a pretty good way to come across as foolish and ignorant. feel free to make whatever assumptions/stereotypes you'd like about my (or any stern fans') intellect or salary or lifestyle and I garauntee the only thing you'll find in common with all stern fans is that we are all fans of stern. you can file those stereotypes in the trash with any other stereotypes you have about race, religion, etc...they are all useless and will only make you look the fool. :spit:

*whew*... thanks.

R.I.F.

There are people who won't listen to Stern because he shocks them. That's what I inferred. Are you a fan? Is that why you thought I inferred otherwise?
:D

stereotyping a fanbase of millions of people as having low intelect = ignorance

I said the people who are shocked by him. Would they be fans? No... and as far as fans go, dick and lesbian jokes are most definitely highbrow. The epitome no less;)

Consider what you wanted to read into the simple statement I made, I'd think me looking like a fool isn't the issue:D

I don't hate Stern, I couldn't care less about him. I'm indifferent. That seems to be a position that many people who love Stern like yourself simply can't seem to comprehend.

As far as flaming people for their tastes in entertainment, no need. It speaks for itself. There's nothing wrong with book clubs, C-SPAN, greased pigs, tractor pulls or antique roadshows... if you're that self-conscious about what you like, IMO that says way more about you than anyone who you think is flaming you.

i'm very proud of what i enjoy (if i wasn't, i certainly would not post about it here - :smug:). i only responded to your post because i like to poke fun at folks who make broad generalizations.

i find it funny and interesting when people pass judgement on others that they've never met. to me, it is always interesting to put those stereotypes/prejudices/generalizations/opinionated-facts/etc under a microscope to see just how silly (and inaccurate) they are. another great example of this can be seen here:

...BUT...
the joke's on me. i neglected to read your signature ("As always, I could be wrong.") :o ;)

Broad generalization or you simply misreading and going into kneejerk mode?

Show me where you were "poking fun" at me. You weren't. You were upset because you thought I was calling people like you stupid. Like you expected it. Let's not get into why you think someone would call you stupid.
:hmm:

Could you be more full of it? Highly doubtful. I explained what you initially didn't understand and you CONTINUE to be completely in the dark. If I wanted to say Stern's fans are stupid, it's very easy to type just that. Once more, there are people who aren't fans who continue to be "shocked" by what he does. IMO that's not very bright... as if they don't know that's what he's trying to do.

I guess it is. You neglected to COMPREHEND quite a bit... even with it parsed repeatedly for you. I'm sure there's no connection to that and you being a Stern fan.

Enjoy the show.
