VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : Sadowsky Metro RV5
cheezewiz 04-02-2007, 06:53 PM OK, due to my pending divorce, I'm forced to move my beloved Sadowsky Metro RV5. Although this one is "the one" for me, my kids are more important, and I'm trying to buy the soon to be ex out of my house so I can keep it after the divorce is final, and I need to raise some quick cash. I think it would mean the world to them if they were able to stay in the house they grew up in.
I don't post this for any pity or sympathy....but just to answer the inevitable "why are you selling this so soon?" questions.
The bass is a beautiful 3 tone burst with a tortiseshell guard and a morado board. It is in excellent used condition. I've gigged with it almost every weekend, but I baby it and take care of it. The usual small scratches, swirls, etc, are present but there is no damage to speak of.
I recently added the VTC. It has the stock Sadowsky hum cancelling pickups. It comes with the stock Sadowsky soft case.
I don't have any pics right now, but will ad them soon.
I WILL consider a trade for a lesser bass plus cash deal, but I NEED to get at least $1000 in cash out of the deal. Keep in mind if offering a trade, I prefer, but am not limited to, Jazz bass style instruments. I prefer but am not limited to 19mm spacing, and I'm almost certain I'd need to have a 5 string.
Cash price is $1900 firm plus shipping. Paypal OK. I bought this bass brand new from Low Down Sound in Detroit last fall. PM or email for further info, etc.
For any references on the bass, Tom Bowlus, Vic, and most of the Bowlus Bass Borg gang and the Detroit contingent have all played or seen this bass.
ElMon 04-02-2007, 06:59 PM Bump. Real sorry to hear of your troubles man. Good luck and keep the spirits up.
Steve Clark 04-02-2007, 07:18 PM Its a great bass.
Pat, sorry you have to sell that baby. If I had the cash I'd buy it and sell it back to you when you were ready.

Tim Cole 04-02-2007, 08:51 PM None better to deal with folks.......
Juniorkimbrough 04-02-2007, 09:21 PM Best of luck to you with the sale! Hopefully things work out where you can keep it!
Dr. Cheese 04-02-2007, 10:00 PM I wish I had some cash to help you out and help myself to your bass.
vroc38 04-02-2007, 10:40 PM I'm interested in your MV5. I have a near-mint Skyline JO5 in TTS, RW and tort that I can offer in trade. Let me know. Looking forward to pics.
Tim

Its certainly possible I'd be interested in that. Forward me some pics and what you have in mind. Also, the Sadowsky model is an RV5. Alder/Morado, vs. the Ash/Maple of an MV5.
vroc38 04-02-2007, 11:21 PM I don't know why I typed MV5 when I knew it was a RV5, I'm not a maple board guy. I'll get some photos out to you tomorrow.
This sucks on so many levels...
Good luck with the sale, my friend. I hope you end up with something you really like a lot so you won't miss this one too much.
Folks, this bass looks like new and sounds fantastic.
west*coast*bass 04-03-2007, 12:09 AM If I had the cash I'd buy it and sell it back to you when you were ready.
Having been through a divorce I was thinking the same thing when I first read about the sale.
Good luck Pat.
drumsnbass 04-03-2007, 01:37 AM sidebar: on the local radio talk show this AM, they were discussing a surver of over 20k people over FIFTY years.
The conclusion was that women had more anger issues
than men. One called called in on air and used my line
as well...
"women aren't happy unless they are unhappy"
sorry to hear of your predicament.
xlows 04-03-2007, 04:07 AM aw, man... i'm sorry. bump for good luck to you.
Jeff Moote 04-03-2007, 06:59 AM wow, I'm definitely sorry to see this.
The good news that you get for playing a Sadowsky is that you know when you have the funds you can find one that will look/sound/play just like it for similar cash.
Best of luck
buzzbass 04-03-2007, 07:16 AM I wish you well brother.
RudeMood 04-03-2007, 07:33 AM Its a great bass.

jmain 04-03-2007, 08:23 AM Noble move man! Best of luck with the sale and dealing with the divorce.
After reading how much you love this bass it hurts to see you sell it for those reasons. I hope it all works out for you, best of luck man!
Kevinlane 04-03-2007, 08:55 AM Sorry to hear about recent events in your life . . .
interest here also
PM coming . . .
tjoTim 04-03-2007, 09:33 AM I played this RV5 at the Bowlus GTG too. It was one of my personal favorites. I can't imagine that anyone could buy a nicer RV5 than this.
cheezewiz 04-03-2007, 03:40 PM Guys, I sincerely appreciate the gestures and kind words of support.
At this point, I'd REALLY prefer a cash buyer, and I have some nibbles, but no sale yet. Of course, if you have what you think is a killer trade for a lesser bass, feel free to offer.
cecile 04-03-2007, 04:41 PM oh wow PM about to be sent
Sorry to hear about the bad news Pat. Best of luck with the sale.
cheezewiz 04-03-2007, 07:28 PM On hold with one back up hold.

It's going to be a great bass for some lucky TB'er!
tombowlus 04-04-2007, 08:24 AM If I had the cash I'd buy it and sell it back to you when you were ready.
That offer has been extended, but with a sale pending, it looks like the 'backup plan' is not necessary.
Grats to whoever gets that beauty! :)

Cool. Or not cool. You know what I mean. Sad to see it go.
TSanders 04-04-2007, 09:10 AM Man Pat, I hate to see that youre forced to sell this.
Couldnt happen to a nicer guy.
Good luck bro, and best wishes.
cheezewiz 04-04-2007, 03:19 PM Tom generously extended that offer before I even put the bass up for sale. I appreciate it sincerely and Tom is one of the nicest and most generous guys you'd ever meet. Sometimes I just have a hard time accepting favors from people. I do have three buyers for this in line and they are just waiting on pics. I'm doing my best to at least get some cellphone pics up, but now my alltel photo album isn't cooperating! I'm working on it guys!
Again, I really appreciate all the kind words and offers. It's a crappy situation, but I know eventually, I'll find a way to get another RV5, and Tom, Tim and others have generously offered to lend whatever I need in the meantime. Friends like you guys mean the world to me, and definitely restore a little of my faith in people.

tombowlus 04-04-2007, 04:16 PM Having seen this bass in person, let me say that any photos (camera phone, Canon, Olympus, whatever) don't really do it justice. The fingerboard has some very nice figuring to it, and the overall feel is quite organic. Killer, killer, tone, too! :)
hasadari 04-04-2007, 04:26 PM Any pics?
Never mind - bad IE plug-in.
Nice bass. I am sossry for your sacrifice.

Dan1099 04-05-2007, 08:25 AM This bass is really, really nice. I was there when he got it, and I was jealous as all get out. And you couldn't ask for a better guy to deal with.
Pat, best wishes, man. Stay strong.
cheezewiz 04-06-2007, 06:24 AM Sold! Thanks Tim
