Well, the search for my sound has, for now come to an end and it's time to let go of this gem. It's a Yamaha BB605, natural finish (alder body). Gold hardware, five string, active pickups (blend, vol, bass, treble, mid shape, mid cut switch). This bass is abosolutely phenominal for the money, but the active pickups just don't fit into the sound I'm going for. I picked up a Yamaha BB415 with passive pups that is exactly what I wanted, so this one's gotta go. I installed dunlop straplocks which are also included in the sale. $350 gets you an incredible bass shipped right to your door. I can provide additional pictures if needed. Thanks!

I'm actually quite interested in this bass. How does it do on creating a warm and punchy tone?

No problems on the warm and punchy. In fact one thing I really liked about it was the sheer variety of sounds I could coax out of it. I just happened to like the thump of the passive P pickup in my new BB415 a little better. I played it generally with most of the treble rolled off and little bit of a bump on the bass. There are tunes on the myspace link (country music) if you want to hear it just a little bit in action.

Here are more photos, there are a couple dings from gigging, nothing bad or even really noticable. There's one on the bottom of the body and one near the jack that I tried to get in the picture. That's about it, this is a well taken care-of bass, bought new by me in May 2006.

Man, that's nice! I really slept on these when they were available and even during MF's blowout sale! What's the string spacing on that?

Although I haven't owned one lately, I am just as big a Yamaha fan as I am a Peavey fan, and this bass is officially hot!

I think it's 19mm on the string spacking, but I'm not real sure. I do know it's noticably wider than the Musicman I played recently.

Damn. These are great basses. I like mine as much or more than any bass I've had - including some really expensive ones. It's my only bass these days. I did replace the electronics with all Bartolini, but what I love is the very playable neck and small, light body. I keep my eyes open for a 2nd one but rarely see them for sale.
