Where can I buy a carbon graphite double bass, preferrably used? I mean a real scrounge job that sounds so bad it will soften your stool!!! Yuk! I played on one at the ISB 2003 Convention and found it really loud, but with forgetable tone. I need something I can kick from pillar to post -- I mean kick real hard -- substitute for my priceless 1820 Abraham Prescott 5 string Busetto that you would kill for. I want something I can jump on with both feet when I'm mad (I weight 250 Lbs.) Here's my "to-kill-for" newly restored 5 string Prescott that I'm loaning to a top shelf player. I used to strap it on top of the car and race through rain storms, but not more. Maybe a plastic bass can take such punishment. Click below to see Prescott:

Every time I see a picture of that instrument, I actually get angry, I'm so jealous.

Why would you want a horrible-sounding graphite? WHy not a mediocre-sounding ply?

Graphites sound better and project better than ply and you can check them in a soft case when you fly.

would this not be better off in the basses section? You would probably find a better range of replies there
