Don't have a name for it yet.

It`s a mix between a thunderbird reverse ( http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Thunderbird-IV-Reverse-Bass?sku=518391 ), and a tobias basic ( http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Tobias-Basic-5-String-Bass?sku=513234 )

I`m not in love with it, but It might satisfy those bassists that love crazy and weird designs.

I can't say I really dig it either, but whatever floats your boat man.

How about Thundbias Revasic... or Tobebird... or When Toby met Birdie... or Just George??? :D

I think the little rounded part on the bottom left side of the body makes it look very awkward.

If you could incorporate an upper horn into the thunderbird shape somehow, I think that'd be class AND solve a lotta T-bird problems.

I'd like to see your plans drawn to scale and a lot more accurate. I just can't picture the way this or any other of your plans would look as real bass. Maybe it's just me...

100% agreed with Marko - your sketches give a general impression of an idea, but they fall far short of being able to convey what the bass will really look like. This makes it impossible for us to provide solid, meaningful comments on your design.

Things I'd like to comment on your sketch, but can't due to the scaling issue includes:

* bridge location, and how the body curves flow with it

* neck pocket usability

* control and jack locations - if you have a round over body edge, they simply can't be that close to the edge of the body

* pickup placement

* pickguard flow and location

* overall body balance (visually and physically) with the neck

* etc, etc, etc ...

Also, as you're working through a series of design possibilities it's best to keep them all in a single thread. This makes it far easier to provide comparison commentary between the different iterations and 'models' you're designing

all the best,

R

Well, it doesn't look any worse than some of these uber expensive basses with the curled upper horns and rediculous cutaways that a few members around here own.

Those things look like parasitic insects, but for some reason people seem to think they're "beautiful".

Sorry if this was a backhanded compliment :hmm:
