bass4daddy 04-21-2007, 12:26 PM Listen to the voice of reason...your fear.
Entwistle 04-21-2007, 07:04 PM ?? you mean just do it?
bluegrasscat 04-21-2007, 08:22 PM i would like to see a youtube video of someones foot going through the side of a bass or the bass just spitting apart! that would have to be some serious damage!! ouch maybe not!!
i think bass4daddy's words are from wisdom!!
bobba66 04-22-2007, 12:17 PM Just do it! What could possibly go wrong?
drurb 04-22-2007, 12:43 PM All you need to do is attach one of these (http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~showpic~Z5Z5Z50000021a~Z5Z5Z513550~Z5 Z5Z51~Z5Z5Z5~Z5Z5Z5) to the lower part of each C-bout and you're all set! :)
Eli_Upright12 04-22-2007, 02:18 PM Then you might as well just slap one of these (http://montysbluff.com/CALCHVY.jpg) on the back of it
drurb 04-22-2007, 04:28 PM Fog lights in the f-holes?
Eli_Upright12 04-22-2007, 04:49 PM Maybe some mudflaps coming off the lower bouts, with the naked lady silhouette.
There are a few tips in the following threads, otherwise just ask the same question at rockabillybass.com

Allll Rightttt Johnny A. :D :p :D ! That is most excellent !
Marcus Johnson 04-25-2007, 11:27 AM Hmm... she seems nice....
I really have to play me some rockabilly.
That gives new meaning to the term "Cat House".
kylierider 05-03-2007, 02:01 PM I stand on mine all the time. It's really easy. lean the bass into position, resting on the side of the endpin. Keep your endpin out only one or two notches as not to put to much force on the endblock. Put RH foot on lower bout. Once your in position and all of your weight is on your RH foot keeping the bass stable just raise your LH leg up and place your foot on the upper bout. If you start to loose your balance when placing your foot on the upper bout you can quickly place you foot back on the ground. I try to wear chucks or some other soft soled shoe as not to put a hole in the side.
Damon Rondeau 05-03-2007, 03:40 PM So kylierider, mon, is your bass reinforced in any way or are you playing it just the way God made it? If you think about all your body weight PLUS the pulling you must be doing on the neck, I'm thinking you got yourself one well-made tank of a bass there. And a lot of faith in glue!
kylierider 05-04-2007, 08:56 AM Nope...It's stock, just the way God made it. 1976 Engelhardt. I weigh in at around 175 or 180 pounds. Knock on wood it's held together well.

Classic!!!! thats great, Made my day.
I apologize if I was being a little snobby towards the idea of standing on the bass, but to me its just showy and a risk I'm not willing to take plus, it just doesnt look that cool when you see a guy riding his bass in the middle of a Jazz ballad or in an orchestra section. But it seems like its safe enough and fits your music styles.
Bob Gollihur 05-17-2007, 02:56 PM It does explain why Rockabilly Violin was such a short-lived phenomenon.
P.S. That is a great graphic!
blown240 05-17-2007, 06:39 PM I stand on my Slap King all the time and I am about 220lbs. I was a little nervous the first time, but once you realize that you are not going to crash thru your bass then its no problem. You just need to make sure you start with a bass that isnt a total piece of crap.

Damon Rondeau 05-17-2007, 10:27 PM Sure, you're cool as a cucumber but your bandmates, man, they're looking a little nervous...
Marcus Johnson 05-17-2007, 11:06 PM Is that Damian from "The Omen" standing behind you?

:D I'd specifically go to an orchestral performance to see someone from the bass section standing on his bass. It would be so out of character and funny

Ha, Ya that guy is an odd one for sure. I have seen him at a few of our gigs, not really sure who he is, A friend of the singers brother maybe?

wingnut 05-23-2007, 02:35 PM I figure since I can't play worth a damn I would take the obnoxious route. My bass looks like it belongs in a pawn shop window!

wingnut 05-23-2007, 04:22 PM When I get off work I'll go out back and wrangle 'im up. I'll try to get the scanner to work and post some pics.
