The Akai SB1 Deep Impact is a Bass Synthesizer that creates bass synth tone based upon the notes generated by the bass guitar itself. This is not a MIDI synth like that of the Roland Guitar Synths. It is used to create bass phat bass tones by using a 4-oscillator synth and an analyzer circuit. The pitch detection circuit tracks the note you are playing and will convert the knob into a sine tone of which is used as the oscillators. You control the attack, decay, envelope depth, and sensitinity. As well as the filter cutoff, filter resonance and synth sound itself.
You can mix your bass' output with the synthesized bass for some real low enders. You must becareful not to play two low notes at the same time as it can sound a bit chaotic. The SB1 has 9 presets inlcuded. You can select between them by using the footswitch on the left in the above picture. You can also bypass the effect completely by hitting the button on the right.
It also includes a direct vs. effect balance control, a program level control, a synth level control and a noise gate. The noise gate is great for removing false triggers that can occur by slightly hitting the bass string or bumping it. The noise gate cuts off the input from the synth.
Features
4 oscillators for deep, complex bass sounds
9 presets that the user can overwrite
Control Knobs and Parameters for attack, decay, envelope, depth, dynamics,
Program Up footswitch to select presets
Program Down jack allows cycle down through the presets
bypass Button
input and output level controls
power supply Included
