for a bass body? I have some logs at my disposal here in mexico and I was thinking of trying to play around with carving one.

Haha, yeha I hope, It would be the cheapest wood ever, it grows like wildfire any where hot and humid. I have seen some talented hawaiian luthiers who have made ukeleles and guitars with mangowood sides and back, but never seen any one use it for anything solid.

There was a thread about this a while ago, I remember someone mentioning it had been done. Picture was supplied, cant find it on the search function though.... maybe someone else knows where it is.
