Hi everyone, I have a quick question. I just won this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=014&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=330109885709&rd=1&rd=1) bass on ebay and it has a broken nut. Would this (http://cgi.ebay.com/Graph-Tech-Tusq-Nut-PQ-1214-00-for-Fender-Jazz-Bass-NEW_W0QQitemZ290099954097QQihZ019QQcategoryZ64400Q QrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem) nut fit on it? if not can you please give me an ebay link to one that does? thanks. Oh, and do you think I got a good deal?

Hmm...
A "new headstock" - and that, with a broken nut?? No name on the headstock. I am really curious about this one, and I would have passed. The tuners are also suspect - are those maybe the ones that go on an Affinity series?
As far as the nut, their shipping is $8 which is really high for something that would probably ship for a few cents, and you can also get one custom made and installed for about $30. I'd pass on that as well.
[edit] Looks like the Affinity series has nicer tuning machines as well. Hmm....this one (the ebay one) smells kinda funny. As in, the only thing that really looks definitely Squier is the neckplate. But I am not an expert, just an owner of a couple Squiers.

Thanks for the reply. It says that the shipping is $1.88. I can get my friend to change it but would that one fit? and does anyone know if its an actual squier?

Apologies - I misread the ad, and took the cost of the nut as the shipping. I don't know if it would fit. I would not think that anyone else here can tell you since the neck is not stock. The nuts for various basses (and even different runs of the same bass sometimes) can vary. So, even if you looked at the exact specs on squierguitars.com and/or had another TBer here give you their measurements and they were an exact match for the nut on eBay, you still would not know as the neck is obviously not the stock neck.
