i am looking to build a 5 string fretless, i want to design it around the bass i play (because its exactly what i want). I play a 5 string ibanez... the ergodyne one...

i really want it to turn out well, but as i have no experience in building basses i would greatly appreciate any help...

where do i start?

If the bass you play is excactly what you want, why bother building one? IMO you should always have a specific reason to build something, instead of just doing it.

Building is not going to be cheaper than just buying one off the shelf....although you can spread out the costs.

If the end result is just to get the bass (rather than build a base of bass-building knowledge), then see if Ibanez will make you a fretless version. Or swap out the neck on a fretted one.

its part of a school project... we have to make some thing and i want a fretless bass, so thought id give it a shot... ive just started on the drawings... the comments on this site are very helpful with most aspects of what im hoping to do...
